2024 Election Thread

Weren’t you one of the ones who said for years that people would vote for Biden because “he’s not Trump?” Ironic that thought process turned against you Dems.

Even funnier that it wasn’t Biden who he ran against.
Yes. Both things can be true. We had bad candidates on both sides.

Well, I guess Americans decided who the lesser of the 2 evils really was.

And you are wrong that people didn’t vote against inflation and illegal immigration.

I'm not saying they didn't vote against those things but that isn't policy in and of itself. The policy is how those things go about getting accomplished. Tariffs certainly aren't going to make prices cheaper. And Trump declaring a national emergency and using the military to deal with immigration probably isn't what people had in mind either.

Well.., when you don’t have any policy in place on EITHER subject, it’s hard to win.

Harris was still promoting benefits for illegal immmigrants until the end and she was still talking about taxing unrealized gains, higher taxes for weaithier people, etc. until the end.

That’s a big L.

Harris didn't run a good campaign, I don't disagree. That still doesn't mean people voted for Trumps policies, which were often times were very vague. You guys are acting as if Trump has carefully laid out policies and most of his campaign wasn't just soundbytes. This wasn't an election based on policies.

It was based on policies. Maybe you need to leave your house in bum **** Tennessee and actually interact with people. You are dead wrong. Almost everyone I know was discussing illegal immigration. Trump has been discussing that for years and only recently has he discussed using the military to enforce it.

It’s been all over the news for years. Where have you been?

You are using a “he’s not Biden” argument. He didn’t even run against Biden.

When people said that they were voting for Trump, because Biden sucked, what was the Dems on this board’s response?

“He’s not running against Biden”

You can’t make this up. 😂🤦🏻‍♂️🙄

You’re going to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to explain away why Kamala didn’t win.

Plain and simple. Harris didn't win because of the uneducated /misinformed voters. I believe I saw several polls reflecting this.

Yeah, living right in the middle of Nashville is "bumfck" or something I guess.

Again, illegal immigration is the issue, it isn't the policy. Trump and Vance were both asked how they would deport 20 million people and neither laid out how. They either didn't know how, or they did and didn't think people would like the answer so they essentially passed on an answer.

I'm not twisting myself into anything. She lost because she was a bad candidate who didn't have time to even run a full campaign, that is obvious.

Well.., now they are telling you how and are laying out a plan. You are using the policy term too literally. They had a plan and Kamala didn’t even have that. Quite the oppositite.

I can tell you that’s not giving credit cards filled with taxpayer money to illegal immigrants.

Yes, after people have voted, so you can't say people voted for something if you didn't lay it out until after the election.

Harris supported the senate bill that Johnson wouldn't bring to a vote in the house. You might not like that bill, but it was most certainly far more detailed than anything Trump offered.

Saying I am using the "policy term" too literally is proving my point that it wasn't an election based on policy.

Trump had a “policy” of deporting illegal immigrants and Harris was giving them food, money, housing and healthcare. You can try to do your usual mental gymnastics for hours, but you are wrong. Literally no one agrees with you

When you tell me I'm using the word 'policy' too literally, then it's not me doing the mental gymnastics.

Didn’t think that I would have to literally hand you a coloring book.

Definition of a policy:

A policy is a set of ideas or plans that is used as a basis for making decisions, especially in politics, economics, or business.

Good grief dude. Hypothetically, if I ran for office on the issue of crime, and tell you I am going to solve the crime problem, but offer no details, then explain to me my policy? By your logic just bring something up is a policy.

I literally gave you the definition of what a policy is and what many Trump voters know it as.

If you can’t read or don’t understand the English language, that’s on you.

Maybe you should be deported as an illegal immigrant

Someone could give you crayons and a coloring book and you would argue that it didn’t come with instructions.

How in the heck has illegal immigration become a right vs left issue? Unbelievable....

Look at the massive swings to R votes in major cities like NYC. They all got a taste of what mass illegal immigration looks like and suddenly became border hawks.

The only people who were previously indifferent are those who never had to deal with them in their own cities.

Great response Mike, way to answer my hypothetical question too.

Nice Republican talking points.

I'm not republican dude. I'm an independent.

For example, I do agree with the libs on the Middle East issue. But on Russia , you're going to find out pretty soon what a bill of goods you have been sold 💰

If you spend an hour or two hearing the opposing view points on rus/ukr and the history, you're not going to be able to argue in good faith with the facts. That entire cluster **** of a war rest entirely on the US and UK shoulders

So… you agree with Putin’s tyrannical invasion of Ukraine?

I don't think anyone does. but continually ramping up the fighting up can lead to a nightmare none of us want to see. No different than Isreal, Thinking they are or are not going too far now, doesn't mean you were ok with the initial strike on them.

I'm not twisting myself into anything. She lost because she was a bad candidate who didn't have time to even run a full campaign, that is obvious.
She ran a good campaign given the circumstances, she had to be perfect while Trump was jerking off a microphone 🎤 during the final week and voters didn’t care. You can say she was a bad candidate but she was put in a bad situation by Biden on several fronts. There is a good chance every Democrat loses to him this cycle. What hurts other politicians doesn’t apply to Trump.

I think it's probably both. A longer campaign might have given her more time to flesh out her own ideas and separate herself from Biden, which would have been helpful for sure. But, in a contested primary I don't think she would have ended up being the candidate. She basically just ran as a generic Democrat due to the timeline, and while it may not have been her fault, I don't think her campaign was ran that well.

Here's a hint for the brainlets still confused.

3/4 of the above were democrats last presidential election cycle.

President Trump listened to what people wanted, Harris tried to tell people what they wanted.

this is still the country that went to war over tea and stamp taxes, and a large swathe of the country will never like being told what they wrong is wrong by the government.
