I’m starting to think that the Kamala campaign ****ed up when going after Trump about the culture war stuff (even though I’m on their side of things). That drove people closer to Trump. They really should have hammered him on this tariff bullshit. The last time he was in office and imposed tariffs, the increase in the cost of goods and materials was passed on straight to the consumer, and the same thing is going to happen again.

In general, democrats are stupid and can’t run potus campaigns. They tried to convince people for a year that comatose Joe was lucid and a dynamo of intellectual thought who stayed up all night because his brain was brimming with ideas. Meanwhile, anyone with a brain could see him shitting his pants and drooling all over himself. He should have bowed out last year.
Unfortunately, you may be right about the tariffs. However, the plan is to increase production in the United States and make those products domestically, increasing employment.
Unfortunatley, because countries like China and Mexico pay their employees so low, that might not lower prices enough. We can’t compete with that unless we are much more efficient.
You may see an increase in gas prices, Mexican beer, avocados, medications, etc.
I’m no expert in economics and trade agreements, so maybe someone else can chime in here.

I know they’ll try and spin this as the Republicans shut down the government, but this is actually a good thing. The more people see that the Dems are just completely full of shit, the better.
They had a deal until Elon decided to stop it at the last minute. The reason there is a shutdown is because Elon convinced Republicans to reject the bipartisan deal, thats just a fact. But 38 Republicans also didn't vote for the new bill and Republicans have the majority in the house.
It would also be a terrible precedent to work out a bipartisan deal and then go back on it to appease one unelected guy because he didn't approve. Trump this morning also appears ok with a shutdown.
