Sophie Howard '15 for Scotland, Aline Reis '11 and Kathleen Sousa for Brazil, as well as Konya Plummer for Jamaica will all compete in the tournament that begins June 7. To-date, only three former Knights have participated in the Women's World Cup (in the tournament's 28-year history): Lena Petermann, Amy (Allman) Griffin '88, and Michelle Akers '89.
Konya Plummer becomes the first UCF student-athlete to compete in the championship while still enrolled in school.
I look forward to cheering these ladies on, but ultimately hope for another dominant performance by the United States squad.
