so he’s scaredthat eliminating gas usage will lead to funding pitfalls. This will probably happen at some point but shouldn’t be allowed. Basically turning every road into a toll road....
It has to be addressed at some point, I'm just skeptical that this won't just be an additional punitive tax. I've got no problem with having a mileage tax on hybrids or EVs, but I'll guarantee you that it will apply to ICE vehicles as well.
I is a real problem, they will force everyone into electric cars that get charged by coal plants. But with no gasoline being bought, you don't have revenue. Simple answer is to charge elected officials by the mile for their plane and car mileage. $5 per mile would be a good start, Double that up if the official is a Democrat.
So if you can’t afford to live near where you work, you get to pay a higher tax. If you drive rideshare or delivery to make ends meet: higher tax.
