Anyone use Lyft?

Before there was any controversy about Uber, I came to prefer Lyft. But even I will say that it isn't something substantive.

There is just a different vibe with riding Lyft. A little more friendly and welcoming somehow.

I've found Lyft was about $1 more and 3 minutes longer for an average pickup ( Uber is almost always 3 minutes or less for pickup, Lyft can have some 5+ minutes wait, but it depends on where you are and the time ). Overall, not too different. I never use Uber anymore, but there is no reason why I couldn't.

I travel ALOT. But I have yet to use Uber or Lyft. I still use regular cabs. I know I am paying more, but I am rich and my butthole feels safer sticking with the traditional way.

I don't think there is anything wrong with still using cabs. Speaking only for Tampa and Orlando, they are still better and more professional than ride sharers, on average, and are 3x more knowledgeable about the streets. They are, however, dying a slow death, not too dissimilar to newspapers in the 2000's.

MORE PROFESSIONAL? When the **** was the last time you took a cab? Every single time I am stuck in a yellow shit bus I regret the decision. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

The credit card machine is broke, oh no it isn't, there's a 20% up-charge on credit... We can stop at an ATM... EVERYTIME.

And to the OP, I use uber or lyft, whichever is convenient for the location I'm in. Many times it's whichever one is running a promo or I have credit or something.

I've never had those problems in a cab. I've never had a bad driver. Last time was from MCO to home after arriving back in Orlando.

Uber cars are usually clean. Cabs are almost always smelly and dirty and they drive slow to charge more.

I would use Lyft if the service was like the name sounds. I want some big dudes to lift me up in one of those giant chairs with the handles on them and carry me to where I'm going. Just like Oprah travels.

My biggest gripe with yellow cabs is not the fare but the obvious milking of the clock. I know they are pricier by default, but they seem to take it to the extreme.

To often when I use them in other cities where I have a general knowledge of the city, I know they are taking a longer or more timely route to get more on the clock.....and when you try to call them out or suggest a better route you get an earful.

I prefer Uber. The last 3 times I tried using my Lyft credits in New York and New Orleans I've watched the driver on GPS go away from my location. Lyft recommended a closer driver the first time and I canceled the ride the last two. Uber was there within a minute. Anybody else ever have that problem?

I have had the driver reassigned that was closer, yes. Probably once a week.

I'm had the reassigned driver for Uber and cabs, as well. But faaaaar less frequently.

Tampa taxis are like moving trash cans. I landed at TPA last month and my wife couldn't get me so I braved a cab. Going over the Howard Frankland, bouncing 3 feet a time, I was sure that the cab had absolutely no suspension.

Not to mention many of the losers they employ flat out will refuse credit card even though it says they take them.

I've only had good experiences with Uber thus far. They're fast, cars aren't smelly shitholes, and they use a modern method for payment.

I've also started trying Uber Eats which is awesome.

I use Uber down here in Florida all the time, never had any big problems. I have never tried Lyft. I was just in NY last week and found the cabs to be cheaper than Uber. I took an Uber one way and a cab on the way back and saved about $5. I took a cab to the airport and it was another $5 cheaper than what Uber was quoting me.

I'd rather rent a car than trust my life with random people trying to make as much money as quick as they can.
