The bumbles on special teams field goal unit are absolutely unacceptable. The mistakes could have cost us the game and lost us many points!

Thoughts?

If you look back, the wing on the right side of the line of scrimmage completely whiffed (twice) trying to block on XP. He needed more depth (instead of lining up too close behind the line). As the edge widens further and further, the wing needs to either widen or drop back to have a better angle at trying to block.

Crazy no adjustment was made.

Definitely beyond crazy! Just no excuse.

I don't understand what they achieve shifting the line before an extra point. Probably for some future trick play.
It's really common and completely stupid. OK let's assume you're going to pass. The holder has to get up from his knees and then figure out where he's going to throw, meanwhile, there's 4-5 D-linemen with no one blocking them rushing like hell. Gee what do you think will happen?

Outside of that first missed FG, kicking it too low, none of the other blocks were on Boomer. Feel bad for the dude, already going through it with the mentals…#44 sheesh, so bad. Let’s make it easier on Boomer not harder.

Very true, but is that b/c of the pressure he’s getting? Maybe. He didn’t have any time during that TCU game. I’m putting it all on that Special Teams line, they were atrocious.

I thought we would have to play pretty much perfect special teams to win that game on the road. Insane to have three make-able kicks blocked and win. Fix it.

A muddle huddle (the line shifting on XP) is not really a trick play. It’s just an old-school coaching tactic to try and get an edge. No coach likes to give up extra points. So when you go through the motions and put the formation in film, it kind of forces the coaches in the following weeks ahead to at least waste/burn a few minutes of practice preparing for it (thus taking time away from much more important things).

Boomers long FG attempt was kicked far too low...wasn't the blocking fault.

The 2nd blocked kick....#44 got beat wide.

3rd blocked kick...#44 favored slightly wide and was easily beat on the inside.
