Join Eric Lopez and Trace Trylko as they debate some of the current topics surrounding UCF Sports.

In this episode, the guys look ahead to the 2025 football season and project what we should expect from a results standpoint.

Plus: the coaching staff has now been announced, how does it look?

Also: basketball fall just short in Kansas, Ted Roof sues, baseball and softball are middle of the pack, and why is the NFL on campus?

How About Now?

Today, I start this writing with a simple question: are we still mad at Dillon Gabriel?

In actuality, maybe that question isn’t so simple for UCF fans, given all of the things that transpired in his three season in Orlando.

At the start, he was a golden boy for UCF. Thrust into action during the second game of his freshman season in 2019, he had a composure about him that seemed uncanny for somebody of his age - and oh by the way, he was pretty dang good too. After the devastating loss of McKenzie Milton to injury, Knights fans felt like they found the next Hawaiian hero.

Good listen…it’s a fun podcast. Trace made a great point relating to Frost having a productive season in 2025 can help him upgrade the coaching staff…currently, Frost is not someone that an in demand coach coach will attach himself to.

I am sure the co-host “E-Low” is a fan favorite. I don’t know who he is but it can be safely assumed that he’s a “super fan” which is fine…we have those in Miami and it makes the podcast fun to listen to.

Funny how “E-Low” pushed Trace to agree with him on the notion that 6-6 in 2025 is very realistic.

Two points from E-Low that I want to address:
1. Better QB play gets UCF to 6 wins and a bowl. Yes, E-Low in 2024. Lookin at 2025…it’s a completely different roster highlighted by four QBs which have not proven that they can win games. QB play doesn’t happen in isolation…looking at the OL and WR groups, both areas where UCF is lacking over last year.

There’s not a proven WR in the roster and the OL will be a patchwork group with no depth or luxury of trying different OL combinations. None of the OL has played a single snap with another. In the OL, the more guys play together as a unit…the better their play gets.

2. E-Low already believes the first two game are automatic wins. Why would he assume that? Jacksonville State can beat this 2025 UCF…not saying they will but they can. Scott Frost’s last game at Nebraska was a loss to FCS Georgia Southern…dude was fired the next day.
