FishDuck.com is a partner of USATODAY Sports Digital Properties. Thought it was a nice read for those who wanted some insight into the offense. aside from "oh that crazy Oregon offense" , its actually very simple.

Wait a minute ...

"This is the darndest thing (above) you’re ever going to see….Chip ANNOUNCES the play in advance! The path of the orange line above shows where the play will go every time. You don’t see an IZR coming from an OZR formation and it’s been that way for six years. Look at the path of the play; it is intended to go between the guard and tackle"

... isn't this what we did every running play this year?

it's a safe assumption that UCF's strength and conditioning program will be completely different under Frost. Wonder who he plans on bringing in

No because, we had no threat from the QB. How many times did the QB keep the ball in a zone the read this year? Once? Never? Also Oregon's entire offense is based on this (just a variation of pound and play action). I will say when we had Bortles we would run it in once in awhile. Man, I did like Taaffe's offense.. Fit our players perfectly.

Curious what you guys think about this.. We have seen Briles high tempo spread applied to smaller schools with success (Tulsa, BG). But, correct me if im wrong ive never seen the style of offense orgeon runs be successful aside from Oregon.. Wonder if it can be applied to schools with lesser athletic capability and still be successful?

I liked that Frost said, "you wanna fit the offense to the players," instead of just going with one scheme that your guys may not even be able to execute.

that's why he took the UCF job. He believes he can recruit athletic players here. I bet when he gets with his recruiting coordinator it will be a search for recruits 40 times over stars to plug into his scheme

How do you stop the Oregon Offense? It is the same way as any other offense and it’s simple. Defeat the blocks.

We may be fukced

Trust me. That's going to have to change ASAP.

That type of offense is usually blown up by a talented front seven ( however, they did embarrass a talented FSU defense last year). Oregon's success the last few years has a lot to do with having elite talent on offense and a PAC 12 that hasn't been that good. The Ohio State game was lost in the trenches and they really couldn't get much done on the ground. Not that it's the offenses fault, but Ohio State manhandled their d-line and did whatever they wanted on the ground and that was the reason they lost (and a few important dropped passes). In general, Ohio State just had better athletes across the board and that's what it takes to win.

In general, I don't like up tempo offenses because the defense is going to bare the burden of being on the field too long. I don't know if Frost has an offensive set that allows for a slower offense if the defense is gassed or not. Our young defense will need the rest.

the PAC12 has been one of the deepest Conferences the last 2-3 years

Oregon had trouble getting the freak of nature Defensive Linemen recruits that you find in the South to play there.

Chip Kelly at LSU for example would be very scary for the rest of the SEC

I agree with the last two points, but I don't think the PAC 12 has been good. I think there are a hand 3-4 teams in the conference that beat up on the rest and then play soft ooc schedules. Stanford under Harbaugh and Oregon have been the only really good teams in that conference over the last ten years or so. USC will get votes in major polls because of their name, much like Notre Dame does. Rarely is any team in that conference, outside of Oregon, a realistic contender for a championship.

the PAC12 playing 9 conference games instead of 8 hurts them. SEC teams play 8 and throw in another cupcake a week before rivalry weekend. USC has been a mess with their coaching hires but watch their games, they have as much talent as any roster in America

To summarize:
  1. We are screwed if the O-line sucks
  2. We do have talent here, and even grabbing a 2 star with a great 40 time could work.. maybe..
  3. Defense will suffer
  4. I think its safe to say we are all pretty excited to see how this unfolds?
  5. Do we have a RB? lol
Time to hit the recruiting trail Frost..

I bet Patti or Dinovo will be the starter next year unless Holman does a 180.

Its a good watch and if you see a couple of QBs transfer don't be surprised. I doubt Patti will be one of them.

looks like Coach Frost and Kevin Smith already reached out to Miami verbal Jawon Hamilton, run a 4.4.

I think Taj McGowan has potential in this offense.
I think any running back that is able to find the hole and get 4-5 yards has a shot. That should be all of them. Spreading out the defense will open running lanes. With our offense line, the ability to make someone miss/break tackles is as important as speed.

Is Mike Rogers still on the team?? He's very fast and was a human highlight reel in high school. Bet Frost is so smart, he moves him to RB ASAP.

Just opened up the laptop and saw this. I love it, i doubt any of those Miami kids were sold on Al Golden, but it would be nice to pick up some of them... I like the aggressiveness from Frost thus far. I heard Frost contacted Felipe Franks, after Franks was reportedly upset when UF recently hosted a 5 star QB.

Bumping this for people that think Holman or Schneider can run the zone read offense. Both guys are pocket passers. Every fan should read FishDucks breakdown and watch his videos before next season begins.

They're decent breakdowns, sure, but god the guy hosting the videos is so dorky is almost painful to watch.

It makes watching games more enjoyable when you know what the offense is doing, and how the defense is reacting.

Bumping this for anyone who thinks Holman will be fine in this system if he just makes better touch passes.

Bumping again for 7pm and anyone else who doesn't seem to get how much the QB role will change in thIs new offense.
