B12 Commish Essentially Tells UCF and usf, "We're Not Interested"

dying conference. If they do expand the playoff and allow conference champions, the blowback from the conferences with 14 members will probably force them to expand or the other conferences will snatch up the 4 or 5 teams worth snatching and the rest will be relegated to the G5 anyway.

They want to keep the money like it is. They got the Sooners in the end of year tournament, so they don't need to expand.

Temple is trying to get a stadium and get better, Houston will be back soon, Memphis can maybe be good again soon, USF will be underwhelming but solid for a while, Cincy has a smart coach, and UCF is a world beater (Let's not speak of Tulane, ECU, Tulsa, SMU and UCONN). So the conference is showing some promise and could one day be better than the B12. If there is ever a fair playoffs, then expansion won't be needed anyway.

Bowlsby is a man born with the name of a bumbling British detective. He is not a forward thinking man. He will gladly pay you double next week for a hamburger today. When his product dissolves because UT is in the SEC and OU goes to the Big 10, he will realize his mistakes.

The big Twelve is making a mistake by not being proactive. They will lose again when a school or two bolts for another conference. Either the American moves to the P-6 (P-5 currently) or maybe another P-5 conference will see the value in a super conference and taking over this Tampa-Orlando TV market. Maybe the Big 10? I guess the SEC and ACC don't want us in with already having Florida Schools. The SEC could make a huge statement by grabbing USF & UCF (JMHO) :)

I've got a feeling the PAC is reserving two spots for them. The ACC, B1G, and SEC all went to 14. That conference is a timebomb. The day UCF, UH, USF, and Memphis are leaked to be going, is the day I know Texas and OK are out the door officially.

We'll still end up in the new Big 12 when Texhoma leave.

UCF will have the last laugh when D.W. gets Daddy to get the ACC to make the first move to 16

In all this money will have a powerful say. Right now Big-12 doesn't see the incentive of money to make a move.

6 16 team conferences would be amazing. They split those conferences up into 4 divisions. Each team is then only committed to 3-4 conference games plus some rivalry games. You have the divisional champs play each other for the conference and the conference champs in a playoffs with maybe some at larges. I just fixed college football.

The big 12 has always been there to serve the purpose of making Texas richer. Until something happens with the Oklahoma schools, there will be no move to expand the big 12, and even then it would probably just absorb the other Texas teams and reconstitute as much of the SWC as possible. I still think the AAC should get out in front of it as much as possible in securing a better TV deal and then try to poach some teams that are in g5 conferences but bring better tv markets into the fray.

UT is going nowhere until the Longhorn network collapses.

Big 12 will only do what Texas wants

Politicians have tied OU and OSU together so whomever is interested in the Sooners will also have to take the Cowpokes

Same with KU and KSU

Texas politicians from other TX schools have their Big 12 institutions tied to the Longhorns.

ATM was able to get out when they did because then Gov Perry us an ATM alum (believe he was a football "yell leader")

They should bring in UCF, USF, Cincinnati (regional to WVU) and one, Houston maybe or CSU but they will continue as is until Texas decides to blow up the conference.

It was kinda excusable to question our value before the 13-0 run now with 20 mil in free publicity not anymore, but Big 12 will mention basketball, as do all the conferences when conference realignment becomes serious. Big 12 is tops in RPI right now. Our conference is also solid in basketball. Its not one or two schools then the rest. Basketball had 9 teams in the Top 100 rpi and we're still one of them.

That commish is just trying to protect his product. In no way he wants to admit they made a mistake. Also he doesn't want to share money. Bring 2 more school in and everyone gets less (except for Texas). Who cares about them we have a better shot at new year 6 bowls in the American.

Perfect illustration of how just 1 or 2 schools run that conference. A&M looks like a genious now for figuring that out

And we’re holding out for PAC12 anyways

Didn't the big12 agree to like $1M per year (shared across the conference) to remove the part of the ESPN contract that would pay the conference the same per team if they added anyone? That was a really short sighted decision.

Just a repeat of the Big East. Somebody send Bowlsby a history of Big East football and how failing to add schools essentially killed it.

I can see it now...

We'll consider adding you to our conference, but you'll need to change the name of your university to University of California, Florida as a condition of joining ;)
Memphis, Houston, Tampa U and UCF to the Pac 12. Big markets. Accessible airports. Book it. *
If Creighton can join the Big East...

Bianchi's article in the Slant today basically says the B12 commish told a UCF/usf Alum and politician the B12 is not interested in adding the schools to the B12 portfolio. B12 obviously lacks any kind of foresight whatsoever. Pathetic but not surprising.

We don’t want to be in the Big 12. All other conferences are inferior to the AAC.

We need to focus on getting a legit and sanctioned Playoff.
