BB Game: UCF @ Tulsa

Michigan wins. Memphis wins. We beat both. We win today and find a way to win twice in the American tournament and we still sneak our way into the NIT. Just my opinion. I think seeing Florida and SMU losing recently puts them outside of the NIT bubble, so that may open up a chance for us.

Makes no sense that Tulane gets the nod over UCF with the same conference record, but worse overall record (assuming UCF wins today, Tulane loses today). That conference common opponent tiebreakers is lame, UCF has a better SOS, Net, overall record etc.

Those USF and Temple losses with a fully healthy roster killed us. Just not our year (again). Time to support the women’s team 100%, no reason to focus on the guys if they have to win four games in four days next week.

UCF up 70-68 with 4.9 seconds left. UCF has pissed away a consistent 10 point lead to let Tulsa back into the game. Awful.

No surprise in this game Tulsa down by 13. The team is not NIT material they just have no drive to put a game away. As was mentioned all season something is wrong, because they have the talent to play much better

Crazy I thought the tiebreaker would matter. We blow a double-digit second half lead, lost to one of the worst teams in the conference.

This program is disgusting, it falls on the leader. Finish 6th (.500) in an average conference, completely unacceptable.

Diong fouls too much and no offense from him unless it’s an open layup. Reynolds is just out there. Bigs aren’t good enough to win.

Game synopsis. Season synopsis.

Tulsa RPI was 277 going into the game, worse than USF at 264.

First time in three years UCF finishes the conference not below .500

totally. How did we blow the lead....let me guess, went cold in shooting for 6 minutes.
I didn't watch it live. I did watch the last 15 seconds or so on video. We were up by 5 with 9.9 seconds though. Tulsa called a timeout after Perry's 2-point bucket. They run down the court and throw up a three with 7.5 seconds left and Perry playing way too off his man. They drain it and somehow there is now only 4.9 seconds left and the score is 70-68. We still had a foul to give at that point and instead let them put up a 3.....horrible court awareness. Should have fouled them on the floor and make them have to inbound and shoot, taking more time off the clock. On the final shot, Perry did force the guy left and he was a right-handed shooter so it was just a crazy shot. The rest as they say....is history.

I didn't watch. We were up by 5 with 11 seconds though.

Darius Perry had 4 free throw attempts in the last 4 seconds. He was 2/4. If he was 3/4 we would have at least had OT. 4/4 and the game is over. We were 9/18 for the game from the charity stripe.
This is a guy you can second guess Johnny on.....he never became a contributor as a PG and is mediocre as a SG. In hindsight, giving playing time to Darius and Tony Johnson (and having them return as a soph and junior next year) would have been a better move than hanging your hat on a 5th yr senior who really has no true position. Unfortunately one of many ways to second guess Johnny.

Agreed with the poor clock management the final two minutes. EAT CLOCK people. UCF just dribbles the ball down quick and takes the first open shot leaving 20 seconds on the shot clock. Better clock management would have won that game. Also, the home team clock operator was definitely slow on starting/stopping the clock... But, whatever....

Just two more games left. I predict we beat duh*bulls (throwing salt over my shoulder) but do NOT get past Memphis...

Memphis' six-week bull-rush to finish the regular season culminated in a wire-to-wire 75-61 annihilation of No. 14 Houston.

It was the Tigers' 10th win in their last 11 games, earning them the No. 3 seed in this week's AAC Tournament, where they will meet the UCF-USF winner Friday (8 p.m., ESPNU) at Dickie's Arena in Fort Worth. The victory also puts Memphis in a prime position to earn an NCAA Tournament at-large berth regardless of what happens at the conference tournament. The Tigers are 25th in the NCAA's NET rankings and 25th in ESPN's College Basketball Power Index – both of which factor heavily into the Selection Committee's decision-making process.

Memphis' dominant run and its second resounding win over Houston this season generated plenty of buzz.

We aren't very good at Mens Basketball. It would be Fitting for us to not win a game in March. But we are playing "South Fla." So hopefully we can win at least one 🙏.

Honestly, I just don't see the passion or know how in Johnny. Ok so next year he has another .500 year, then 2024 we'll suck again. Not being debbie downer, just being realistic. Thoughts?

Basketball is just a distraction until football season. :p I think Dawkins is a pretty good coach and means well. But, agree with you on the lack of passion. That seems to reflect on the players as well. I'm not on the fire the coach bandwagon...yet...That is above my pay grade. However, UCF b-ball needs to get better. In the meantime, BEAT DUH*BULLS !!!
