Biden up 16 points in CNN poll

This is what's frustrating. He should've run away with this election but he's simply incapable of not being a lunatic. It's just not in his DNA.

His supporters respond with, "well what would you do if you were attacked unfairly and mercilessly since day 1?"
I agree with your assessment about Trump being his own worst enemy. But on the other hand, the notion that he was somehow 'unfairly attacked' from the beginning is a bit hard to swallow.

As I recall, on Day One of his presidency, Trump lied about the size of his inauguration crowd. But when the media called him out on it, he had his press secretary double-down and angrily chastise reporters despite the fact it was blatantly obvious to everyone Trump's boast had been a bald-faced lie.

This stupid little episode is how the man who the American people needed to trust with their welfare chose to begin his presidency.

The point is I'm willing to give considerable ground and still be comfortable in my belief that he has nobody to blame but himself. It's a fact that there are people who never would have given him a fair shake. What the exact % is I don't know but that's not the part of the discussion I care in getting bogged down with.

I still think the huge amount of hate for Hillary on the right, and the huge lack of enthusiasm for her on the left is what played a big role in the last election. In our choose the lesser of 2 evils elections, more people didn't like Hillary and gave Trump a shot because the idea of having a business man in the Whitehouse has always sounded appealing.

In this election people are more neutral on Joe, but negative on Trump (except for his diehard fans). Trump is doing nothing to reach out to those undecided voters in the middle. He is who he is, and he is running the same election campaign this year that he ran 4 years ago as the outsider and underdog. Still even using MAGA and drain the swamp when he is the one who has been in power for 4 years. It just is not resonating this time and people are wanting a return to some civility and normalcy after 4 years of Trump.

It's also a fact that Trump NEVER attempted to reach out to the people who didn't vote for him after the election.

FWIW, I became a Reagan supporter after the 1980 election.

Franklin Pearce / Boston Herald poll had a really interesting split they published. The poll ran Sept 30 thru Oct 4.

The polling done prior to Trump's diagnosis was running 46-41. The polling done after was 55-34 !!! The net poll result was 51-37.

I saw some comment about another poll that had a similar (but not as extreme) type of swing.

In no way do I expect Biden to win the popular vote by 20%, but it does make me wonder if this is the nail in the coffin. We know Trump is bleeding in the suburbs, particularly among women.

I can see plenty edge Republican leaners being put over the edge here. The debate just sort of reinforced what you already knew about Trump, so that might not have really added new information.

But these are the same voters putting their kids in masks every day to go to school, avoiding crowds, wearing masks in their day-to-day activities, and generally trying to do their part to be responsible. Trump is painting a pretty stark contrast.
Who wants a petulant toddler as President anyway?

I pray to God the media doesn't continue paying attention to this fool. I want to hear from Trump after he leaves office as much as I want my fingernails pulled with a pair of pliers.
THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^ If frump is tweeting about Biden doing a bad job, THIS CAN ONLY BE A GOOD THING!

Does anybody think this is actually realistic? This basically would mean that Biden is more popular than Obama or Reagan were and that Trump is more unpopular than any incumbent in history. I just can't believe either of those two things are possible, let alone both being true at the same time.
I believe perhaps one of the two things is possible. Except for his most ardent worshippers, I think T's shtick has grown tired and predictable ( get angry, pout, lash out, blame, repeat), and his disregard for medical protocols has rubbed a LOT of people the wrong way. His bravado, defiance and mask-shedding photo op has seemingly opened many eyes to his insensitivity and recklessness.

I would think his job approval would be lower then. He's currently about the same as Obama in 2012.

I think you nailed it regarding civility. The disruptive acrimonious style wears thin.
