Big 12 to interview 17 schools about expansion

Yes, i agree Jets. But i refuse to be disappointed! We will be a big fish in a little pond instead of vice versa. Frost will be able to build his team while beating up on tHe AAC. When Oklahoma and Texas bolt the Big 12, they will come begging.

If that happens, there won't be a Big 12 to go to. Sure, if we remain AAC we will still become a good program. Boise State east, with better academics. I don't want to be ok with that.

I hear you man. But I REFUSE to be disappointed. I will have a great time in spite of those old blowhards that run the Big 12!

17 schools. I guess the experts who say Cincy and Houston are it, know nothing. Why interview 17 schools if you already have the 2 you want. I believe the "less likely" about as much as I believed the experts saying "Expansion is Dead". It's all crap, crap and more crap. Either someone's making it up, or the leaks are having fun screwing with the press.

Wanna bet they don't vote to expand at all this time around, which is to UCF's advantage. They got permission to hold a conference championship, so the pressure is off them again. UCF will get a chance to turn around our records with new coaches and AD who belong in this century. Memphis' football will likely return to mediocre and hoops attendance continues to decline. Texas gov. turns his focus from helping Houston to running for prez.

well it's a good sign if UCF is one of the handful of schools that they allegedly visited in person

They may delude themselves into thinking they are ok where they are again, but it's undeniable that the longer they wait the worse this things get. It's already been demonstrated to them that they have a diminished chance at playoff inclusion and they are passing up money from the networks as stipulated in the contract. The sooner they add the programs the sooner they can collect that extra cash, give themselves the best chance to put a team in the playoff, and the sooner people forget that the teams they add were ever outside of the power structure. They are completely nuts and myopic if they stand pat.

I think the crappy schools want to explore their options when Texhoma leaves. Better to study now and make a quick decision later.

It's not like the landscape is gonna get any better by waiting though.

Our enrollment balloons once downtown campus is complete. Add that to a booming area of Orlando. Add that to one of the best attendance numbers in the g5. Add that to the recruiting location. Add that to no NFL team in our market. Add that to one of the largest budgets in the g5. Add that to the few that have won a bcs/access bowl.

Our only negative is the fb record of 2015.

If the BIg 12 is too stupid to see that now, then they'll be too stupid to add us even when we start winning.

Reality check: Orlando is a very low-wage metropolitan region, even for low income Florida. Our athletic program generates so little revenue that student fees must cover nearly half of the operating costs, despite our low coaching salaries. Attendance, once one of the fastest growing in both football and basketball, fell substantially and thereafter remained flat for several years despite moving up to a much better ranked conference. Lastly, the downtown campus was pushed off til 2018 and downsized, and since UCF was ordered to cap and cut freshman enrollment, enrollment growth has been entirely among local CC transfers, reversing the decade-long transformation of UCF into a statewide university. One good sign, status-wise, in the Provost's drive to dramatically elevate UCF's global research rep but massive hiring directed at supporting faculty research clusters and grant funding.

We're the largest market in the nation without an NFL team. Do we have to boycott the NFL to make a point?* Except the pro bowl...dont boycott that.

The reason for the low wage is the service industry. No one claims all the money they make. Also, we have a really young alumni that doesn't give much back yet because they are starting families and buying houses. Give it another 10 years and annual donations will be where they need to be.

up to 18 schools, Air force joined in the fun. Sounds more an more like 2 adds or 0 is likely.

Unless they add 4, the Big 12 will only last 4-5 years, so if we're not part of this expansion and it's only by 2, it doesn't matter whether we're part of the 2 or not. This is Big East pt 2 right here, bros and hoes.

No idea what they will do. Both BYU and Houston seem to be very polarizing for the members. Cinci seems like a shoe-in since no one seems to have an issue with them and a Ohio school pulls some recruits from Ohio State and Michigan. You'd think that logic would help UCF, but the who hell knows?
