Gonna keep the hot take train rolling here, but it was mentioned in another thread that it felt in the stadium like we could have been playing Temple.
I think the take was related to the student attendance, but I’m going to admit that even though I have waited forever (25 years of fandom) for us to be play in a P5, during the game (pre-choke) I was never feeling like “wow this is Baylor we’re playing” or “wow this is really happening”. I thought I would be but never did. Was cheering and excited just as I was during AAC.
Maybe it has been the 2 year lead up and waiting for it to be official, and a sigh of relief that we ‘made it’ (for now). Maybe also us getting the JV FS1 treatment hasn’t helped it feel like it’s real yet either. Being on real Fox next week may make things feel legit (hopefully it’s not another disaster of a game)
I’ll venture to say that for your average student from Florida, playing Baylor may not seem that different from playing ECU, et al.
