Is Brady the best athlete of all time? He's the best to ever do it in the NFL.

Do we think he's better than MJ? Tiger Woods? Babe Ruth? Gretzky? Ali?

no MJ played defense and basketball players require more athleticism to stay at that level. The GOAT of Football definitely

Fair point. MJ is way more *athletic*, no doubt. Can we say something like he's the most achieved athlete? He has 7 rings and MJ has 6. Most accomplished athlete?

I just think he deserves some kind of distinction as one of the best athletes ever in addition to best QB ever. I'm just not sure how to characterize it

No. Other basketball players have 10 or more.

Now Brady saying itā€™s not official. He probably wanted to announce during a press conference and Bucs GM ruined it.

definitely makes the case for best in Leadership..a lot try to discredit and say it is luck but it takes certain guys to elevate a locker room to make that many Super Bowls and win 7. Look at Aaron Rodgers w all that natural talent and only 1 ring to show for it

Tom Bradyā€™s dad has refuted this as an ā€œunsubstantiated rumorā€. That and the call to Jason Licht may be pointing to coming back for another year. God I hope so, heā€™s probably the MVP this yearā€¦what a shame to have him retire still on top of the field. Bucs fan here hoping too, all the talent we have would be wasted with Blaine Gabbert.

New England is the GOAT at cheating. Yes, he is that good as well. I didnā€™t mind him in Tampa, honestly.

I don't know man, concussions/dislocations vs sprained ankles / jammed thumbs?

I don't think athletes from the NBA could get through a single NFL season, let alone post numbers like this dude day in / day out.

People are people. Why wouldnā€™t a guy be able to play NFL just because he plays basketball? A lot of them played football growing up too.

anyone that is good at both sports is smarter to choose basketball, NFL pay sucks for non franchise QBs while you got mid level role players getting 10 mil a year or more a year in the NBA
Charlie Ward being one. Itā€™s harder to make basketball though.

There is over 1600 players on NFL active rosters vs. NBA has under 500. NBA pays better, but the spots available for those paydays is very limited.

I wonder why Roughing the Passer did not report Brady's retirement. I guess it's because roughing TP doesn't report true facts. They continue to make a bad name for what their pushing.

Instead of a Tom Brady retirement, Roughing The Passer would most likely put out a ā€œTom Brady Dead at 44ā€. Thatā€™s more in line with their BS.

Certainly can answer the Babe Ruth scenario. Brady, who I couldn't care less about, was a far better athlete than the (really am sorry) fat, alcoholic Babe Ruth. Do like Babe far more than Brady, love the stories, but in no way was he as athletic, heck, even athletic. He hit a ball well, BUT NO. (sorry if this was already answered didn't read any before I spewed) (before you get whiny, nope couldn't play like Ruth, that has nothing to do with it)

Kinda weird how the greatest of all time didn't even get a send off. It felt Like big Ben had 3 weeks to waive and shake hands.

He didnā€™t let it out he was leaving until season was over. Ben made it known a week before last home game that it would be his last home game. SportsCenter all day today was Brady.

Doesn't seem his style, he goes in to play and win. Not looking to spend every week doing interviews and ceremonial gestures about how this is the last time he does this or that. Would overshadow every game he plays.

Best way to get everybody off your back and enjoy a 6 week no-hassle break is to retire :)
You think he had less people on his back after announcing his retirement than if he had said nothing after the loss to Rams? I donā€™t. Itā€™s been a circus after his retirement leaked

Yes. They were breathing down his neck every day before he announced and then he dropped off the radar. A lot of times it's the reason guys come back is because they miss the attention.
