I was telling a friend today that I didn't trust the polls because a lot of people wouldn't be open about supporting Trump
I think this surpasses brexit.

Not sure why everyone thinks the markets are gonna tank. The Trump plan handily out-spends and runs up the deficit even more than the libs wanted. There are zero fiscal conservatives left on the Hill, so no worries about getting anything passed.
Ten year yields are already signaling more inflationary pressures. Trump talks a good game about gold standards , but at the end of the day, none of the politicians are willing to bring the pain of a gold standard or fiscal conservancy.
This is absolutely a Brexit type scenario. Trump is a populist candidate and is the middle finger to Washington elites. The establishment politicians inability to affect the well-being of the middle class has led to this up-welling of support for anyone not associated with the current DC politicians.

Vote was mostly an "anti-DC Establishment" vote...which Hillary had been a part of so long...but for many of the other GOP Presidential Candidates too...voters across the nation said "NO MORE".
No clue if it will work but voters (obviously most never polled) were mad...and most said they had made up their minds back in Sept or well before that.
NOTE: Pollsters were SOOOOOOOOO wrong (just like in Brexit), that in Wisconsin, who hadn't voted for a GOP Presidential Candidate for decades...was so in the "bag" for Clinton...Hillary never spent 1 day or 1 hour or 1 minute in that state after the Democratic Convention...as their polls showed her winning easily by 10% or more.
Yeah, plus "they" are putting the hammer down on gold speculators today, so gave another excellent entry point to get in before the big move up. Trump spending plan is highly inflationary. Blue collar workers gonna be in high demand working on all the infrastructure projects. Drives wages, jobs, etc. all up (on the back of deficit spending - something the last 5 Presidents got really good at, but by all accounts Trump will take to another level. )
Is that a question or a joke? Trump ran on the platform of huge deficit spending with trickle down sometime in the future (i.e. Trump people call it Reganesque. ). The fiscal conservatives have all left the house - figuratively and literally.

There really wasn't an outcome last night that was going to lead to a balanced budget or even a slowing of deficit growth. The snowball has already gained too much momentum with mandatory spending now making up 60% of the budget. Now more than ever the baby-boomers are never going to touch SS or Medicare/Medicaid and the result will be more deficits which will mean even higher % of the budget will become mandatory due to increased interest on the federal debt.
Eventually millennials will get older, boomers numbers will reduce, and basically the **** will hit the fan. But that's a decade or two down the road.
Man this market crash is terrible. How will we survive?
Why you think so? Government can just print more money. Basically, until the cure becomes worse than the disease, the path of least resistance is to print money and run huge structural deficits.
