Calabrese > Holman

What God awful decision making by Holman at the end of the half. Go away. Next. Anyone else please.

Maybe give the kid a decent sample size in this offense before you crucify him. The coaches like him enough to keep him as the starter, so there must be something there. Maybe he is just super excited by the first game and needs to calm down. Wait and see how the second half looks.

He's a senior. Other than ridiculous arm strength what has he shown anyone that he can fully run any offense?

Excited about the "first" game? How many games has he started? He's supposed to be a seasoned veteran. He's been given way more chances than he should have had. Frost needs to step up like Smart at Georgia , realize his starter isn't on his game, and put in # 2. This is the right game to see what others have before we head down the same old road!

Holman settled down nicely and I am glad Frost isn't as reactionary as this board and admittedly myself. He clicked in the second half no doubt. Hopefully he can carry that into the next game. It is a long season with a new system.

Second half made some good throww but obviously when SCSt was gassed. So I'll give him credit for some of it but taking the game in total- just not good enough. Just can't be this inconsistent as a senior and decision making has to be about 1000x faster....which isn't an easy fix.

LOL... So a senior who the coaches feel is our best chance to win isn't doing enough for you? Cool.

Seriously, he had some nerves early in the game and settled in nicely. His body of work at UCF is solid.

that sums it up.

Notice I'm not calling for Patti or a specific backup...rather commenting on Holman just Not have developed enough. Talent, GOL, whatever reason you want to make. We're just fortunate powerhouse FIU wasn't there tonight to take advantage like last year.

Holman played OK to good overall. First half was poor and second half was good. There probably isn't anyone out there who can do better right now. Let's not forget though that this was an FCS school that we played.

But really Holman has been "just wait until he settles down!!" For his entire UCF career now. His "body of work" isn't "solid"...it's ok at best. Senior.[/QUOTE]

This. Very much This! The time to "wait and see" is over....he is a senior for God's sake. Holman plain stinks, and we need to stop making excuses for him. Even if we don't have a better option, he should be benched on principle. as a punitive measure. We are going to Ann Arbor to get our shit pushed in next week, because our quarterback wouldn't even be able to throw a football into the truck at halftime.

Look, if Holman turns it around, and sets the world on fire, I will be the first person to eat crow, but deep-down, we all know what we have at QB, and it's not good.

I can't imagine the Holman we saw last night was the Holman the coaches see in practice. The question is when that Holman will make it on the field for game day. Some of those throws last night, were 5 yards off target from fairly close range. The receivers made them look closer than they were.

Patti came in and threw 2 on the money. That is a small sample size, but I'm not sure Holman threw 2 passes that well all night.

if you had heard me yelling in the fist half last night, you'd know that, by halftime, I didn't want Holman back in the game...but his 3rd quarter was very good and he settled down, set his feet and threw the ball accurately to the open man...and he got the Oline protection to do it...so let's see how Holman, and just as important the offensive line, plays on Saturday in the Big House....this is early an opportunity for both to step up and shine!

You guys are hilarious.

So we should sit a senior QB who has led the team to a conference title and just WON... As punishment because he's not as good as you think he should be? Even though you admit we probably don't have a better option.

Think that through, champ.

I didn't think that Holman played better. Frost gave him plays which allowed Holman to use his arm that only has one speed. Frost eliminated any places which required touch.

I think they dumbed it down a little, but they gave him plays that did not require him to think so much.
but are you trying to tell me that the TD pass to smith did not require touch?

Let me guess, you are a glass half empty kind of person...[eyeroll]

His first year playing was behind Bortles. His second was a pretty good year. His third was him playing with broken fingers whilst laying on his back. It's been a tough ride for the kid. Just wait and see what he can do this year while younger guys gain experience for the future.

Maybe we should just fire Frost. The arm chair QB coaches have spoken.

Clearly he is a GOL lackey. No ra-ra speeches at half-time, no adjustments at the half, and Holman was still QBing. FIRE HIM!!!

Holman does stink for a D-1 Senior QB.
Can't decide what to do when the ball is snapped.
Throws were way off.
Can't throw on the run.
Nerves frazzled
This was a 1-AA team.

He's just not a good QB.

You're pretty much right on. It was a 1-AA team, wasn't it?? People forget that sometimes.

Maybe you guys should actually tell Frost that. Since you've watched him for about 30 minutes in the last 9 months, you're the experts.

funny post but point made. switch QBs from Saturday and we are up at halftime 30 or more rather than 18-0. the kid from SCSU was stupid accurate. Holman missed open receivers in every conceivable fashion. at least he picked it up in the 2nd half. maybe it will carry over for the rest of this year... then get the SCSU QB to transfer.

You're probably trolling, but I'll bite.

The SCSU QB was 15/35 and averaged less than 4 yards per attempt. Are you sure you want him to transfer here?

After watching Holman for 3-4 years, this is what we know:

1). He doesn't make quick, good decisions.

2) His touch has improved, but it's not great.

3) He throws a pretty nice deep ball and has a good arm.

4) Like most QBs he is way better when he has time to throw

5). He's constantly overthrowing receivers on mid to deep out patterns.

6). He's often not putting the ball in the right place on bubble screens and short passes so that the receiver can get maximum YAC.

7) He's a senior, don't expect a lot of improvement. If he does improve, it won't matter, because he's graduating.

8). He has above average mobility, but often doesn't know when to run and when not to. He's not great at extending a play or making something out of nothing.

9). He's not often going to be the reason why UCF wins a game, but may be a reason we lose a game

10) He's not consistent.

11) Most fans want to see a new QB. Someone different. A glimpse at the future.

12) I can honestly say I was a big Holman fan after the Penn State game in Ireland, but I don't think he's one bit better now than on that day.
