My theory is that Gus doesn’t want to go down as a one hit wonder with Cam. He’s constantly scouring the portal trying to find that elite run first, serviceable passer, so he can seal the legacy that he has done this twice. Gus has had some really good QBs that slipped through his fingers and are starting at other programs. Meanwhile, we had all the pieces in place to have a great year if we just went with the only guy who can throw a pass in Rizk.

Gus is like the compulsive gambler trying to win it all back to prove to his family he’s not a loser. Complete lack of accountability for his actions.

I wouldn’t have cared if we had a shit team, but we had a real shot at winning the Big 12 with a competent passing game. Wouldn’t be surprised if we win out from here. Gus will be celebrated by some for turning it around, but in reality, we are winning despite his coaching and decision making.

Question: with all the practices, spring game, scrimmages, why could't gus see what Rizk brings? When I watched the spring game and I saw Jefferson, I said to myself, what am I missing on Jefferson? He was overweight, was throwing crazy passes into double coverage. A few good passes. During the first few games he had fumbles, big over throws, etc.

Newton was a freak. The body of KJ, the speed of Jacurri, the power of Daunte, and the throwing ability of McKenzie.

Our first game KJ looked like he spent the offseason eating donuts on the couch. He didn’t even seem excited to be playing. How could Gus not read his lack of enthusiasm and poor physical conditioning.

Actually he transferred after he was arrested and kicked off the team, lots of people forget that.

But how would we know that he was the best option? Practice and gametime are rarely the same.

If you think otherwise, let me take you back in time and introduce you to the man who ran the WildKnight very, very effectively ... and was always QB#1 coming out of camp for 3 years straight, but never QB#1 by game 3-4.

Taaffe and his magical Robcal

Well ... we've had OCs like that at UCF before.

Taaffe was our OC behind Bortles too

I am going to differ with you here.

The Big XII is the #2 conference when it comes to SoS, both OoC and against itself. I think we would have gone 6-3 at best. Sorry, but that's just how I feel. And half the games in the Big XII are decided by 1 score.

No one is blasting everyone, and most teams are knife fighting to the end, with lots of mistakes at times ... in the Big XII far more than anywhere else, and only the SEC has better competition week-in, week-out.

And UCF fans had better get used to that expectation. The ACC has slipped down to old AAC level, and the Big 10 has so much crap at the bottom, it cancels out their couple of top teams. Again, only the SEC is better.
