I realize most people don't pay much attention to state-local-and national 'governance stuff,' but how ANYONE could whine about spending money to fix our roads and bridges is beyond me.

According to a couple of articles I read, only 550 billion is additional spending. still to much but better than the 1.2 trillion they brag about. the other 650 billion is the normal infrastructure bill that is spent every year.
The point to be made is they already spend 600 billion plus yearly to do the work. Right now is the most expensive time they could possibly spend the extra with commodity prices as high as they are. You get your most bang for the buck when prices are on a down cycle, not up.
