O-Town!
I must say...this guy is a freaking genius. Coach Strong's response to the question "if what is being done at UCF can be done at USF." I think the notes left out the electrolytes reference.

We made a commitment to building an on campus stadium, indoor practice facility, great athletic village etc. USF content with an aging NFL stadium. When you have a stadium on campus it changes school spirit and changes your GameDay environment of tailgating, school pride etc. Glad we are out of the Citrus Bowl Dumpy city owned stadium and in the bounce house.

While I'm glad that UCF has eventually seen the benefits of the things you mention in your comment. We can only hope it is sustainable, as the support has not always been as strong since having the on-campus stadium, etc. Some of the other American members with an on-campus stadium tell a different story too. Thank God for Danny White.

They aren't really paying him since he has the Texas buyout. When does that end?
Found it.

Strong's annual compensation from USF jumps to $2.5 million in 2019 — after Texas' financial obligation to him ends — and increases by $100,000 each of the final two years.

Similarly, Strong's salary pool for his assistants begins modestly, at $1.66 million in 2017, but grows to $3.4 million by the contract's final year. Former coach Willie Taggart's staff salary pool was $2.5 million this past season but maxed out at $2.9 million in 2020, according to the contract he signed last December.

If Strong leaves for another job before Dec. 31, 2017, he owes USF a buyout of $2.5 million. That total dwindles to $1.7 million by the deal's last year.

If he's dismissed, USF owes him only his base salary over a 20-week period. If he gets another job before then, the school's obligation is mitigated based on whether Strong's new salary is higher (USF's payments end) or lower (USF pays the difference between the salaries).

USF is going to have to start paying up next years. $2 million extra per year for him and $1.8 million extra per year for his garbage staff.

Agree with 2DogKnight. The biggest thing about this year was we were able to capitalize on momentum by not crapping the bed this season.

In 2014 we lose two in a row to start season. If we would have started Holman and beaten Penn State we may have kept some of that momentum going. Not to mention if that happened and we didn’t blow it against UConn we’re in back to back NY6 games.

Happy we’re packing them in, but I can see it turning with us having an ok season next year.

The GOL curse.

You are right. Being in a non P5 we always have to be competing for the championship up to the end of the season or interest will begin to wane.

Back in the day the academians at UCF screamed bloody murder everytime money for the football program was mentioned. GOL's biggest accomplishment was getting Hitt to loosen up the purse strings. Genshafting has USF still in the pre-GOL mindset. Know exactly what Strong was talking about :)

There is nothing a stake for USF players. Even beating us doesn’t mean we aren’t playing on NY Day.
Tampa media always tries to create extra drama

Last year’s game was enormous stakes for both teams, this year it would only end the already thin playoff chances

If we lose, we have to hope Boise State beats Utah State. Otherwise they could jump us.

don't get me wrong a loss would be brutal and hurt UCF but the award for USF isn't on a same level as last season. A win last season has Flowers get a chance at a Peach Bowl, this year they would still be going to the Boca or Gasparilla Bowl

No they won’t. That’s a HUGE fall and jump, plus, we still have our conference championship game.
I wouldn’t be so sure. We would both have one loss. Us to a crappy Bull team and then to Michigan State.

Then they beat Fresno and we beat a crappy AAC west team. Game over

They never played on ABC on Saturday night. I doubt anyone on the Committee or ESPN has watched a single Utah St game other than the guys calling it. They know we’ll sell tickets. We’ll get the invite.

Plus, USF isn’t beating us anyway, so it’s a moot point.

In the 9 game series, I have only seen UCF more motivated than the Bulls......

Never
last year didn't disappoint me as much bc I knew they had a cold blooded QB in Flowers. It's their past teams that were completely outmatched and still made it a game that pisses me off. This year would as well bc they are worse at QB and run defense

What you’re saying is 100% political and absolutely not factual.

They ARE ranked.

Yes, this is a hypothetical, but a real possibility

This needs to end. I’ve attended almost every game and it’s sickening. Heupel has played in rivalry games, so he needs to stress the importance

This game is not a given
