Chicago Might Test Universal Basic Income

I wonder how they'll pick these 1,000 households considering nearly 1.2M people in Chicago live in poverty.

Communist Utopias worked very well in the US. They always do when it's small, selective, and people hold each other accountable.

I fully expect the results will be quite excellent in the biased report, and it will be expanded. All while Illinois continues to shrink, lose corporations, even charities and non-profits (don't get me started -- although feel free to Google how they are losing charities out of taxation non-sense too) -- and otherwise continues to go massively bankrupt.

They vote Democratic already, and award the state to the party, so it doesn't matter. Self-re-enforcing results will always be good.

At least when Seattle does something this stupid, corporations start blasting them openly. Bezos might be anti-Trump, and adopt some Progressive tactics, but he's not stupid and self-destroying. He's organized a lot of other Seattle businesses and told the far-left socialists in Seattle where they are headed, and why they will be without corporations soon enough if they continue down those roads.

Too many Millennials -- the ones in government -- have grown up believing only government can solve issues, and more government control is better.

There are 1.2M people living in poverty in the Chicago metro area.

To give everyone $500 per month, that comes to $7.2B per year.

Chicago’s entire current budget is $8.6B.

Good luck with that

Given the high numbers of them on welfare aren't they already supporting "universal income."?
Yes, but this is allegedly 'more fair.'

By 'more fair' we need it justifies the need for yet more taxes in Illinois ... aka, 'redistribution of wealth.'

Done in an honestly pure society , this would be a interesting idea . The problem would be how to pay for it , and Goverment dependency .

The first part could be done by government owned monopolies or stakes in major business . The second is the bigger problem . People who most rely on Goverment are most vulnerable to eventually lose part or all of their freedoms .

Goverment is at best a necessary evil at worst , well just look at our current governments to answer that .

For now this is just another attempt at show me the money. But done right it could be something positive .

Whatever happens it will never cure the poverty in corrupt areas . Their poverty is the result of their dna and their behavior . However much they deny it , they know it’s true .

They destroy everything ( and everyone ) they touch and then blame the status quo and beg for someone to save them from their stupidity so they can then destroy them and then repeat the process .

The recent riots in Hati where they attempted to attack foreign aid workers for the crime of , yep you guessed it “ trying to end their poverty “ being but the latest warning to the world to avoid even thinking of helping them.

If God wanted a perfect society, he wouldnt create Chiraq.

Every Libtard sjw commie socialist blm lgbt must memorize and accept this simple truth and until they do , they will constantly find themselves under siege from their “Privileged minorities “ .

LOL...You need welfare plus universal income. If you're going to be a lazy liberal you might as well bankrupt the people that actually work. Just go all the way! Turn us into Venezuela and fighting for food.

Trust me ... at the end of this "trial" I'm sure Chicago will try to prove to everyone how great it worked.

Well it is great for the lazy 1,000 people, right? I mean if someone was going to give you money for nothing isn't that great? If liberals spent the time of actually working, they wouldn't need to raid the productive.

They can’t do that until they take our guns away.

It's exciting to watch. I always wanted to know what an economic collapse looked like. Nobody ever really describes it. A lot of people on the internet talk vaguely about an economic collapse. Here's a real one right now. Some people are actually dying. They're selling their own children for food. It's happening because they're socialist/communist. The fact that they're very stupid doesn't help either. It's not being reported by the manhattan elites, because they don't want Americans to see that communism doesn't work.

They predicted that the same would happen in America by October of 2016. Fortunately, it didn't. I don't think this will happen to America under a Trump presidency.

Civil War II could happen to America however -- since the Democrats, commies, sjw, lgbt, blm and feminazis are pushing hard on the revolution pedal as their sole solution to President Trump's America First Nationalism.

Even though Venezuela is a very poor country with food shortages and a lot of crime, do as many people get shot and murdered there as in Chicago?

I would not feel good about travelling to Chicago and definitely would not feel safer in Chicago than in Venezuela as a visitor.

That aside, interesting how the U.S. looks more and more like Venezuela each day. The population is becoming decidedly mixed, so it is only a matter of time...

The scenes at a rally looks like its right out of a Trump rally or outside a Milo event. In fact, this is how they beat the white privilege out of opposition politicians in Venezuela...

Organized crime now tends to be all over, and in charge of much 'commerce,' versus just in urban areas like the US, where it is only a portion of GDP.

But yes, organized crime has been ever increasing in the US. They control many cities again.

makes perfect sense, a state with huge debts and a pension they can't pay adds on universal incomes.. They need a big soda tax to pay for it...

SJWs have done such a great job with Chicago, San Fran, London and of course Venezuela.

Speaking of Venezuela, that country should be filthy rich if the estimates are right and they are, in fact, sitting on the largest oil reserves in the country. So, why aren't they? Here's a 2016 article from the Washington Post that talks to a lot of the events that caused their doom. Scary part of it is that it is very easy to think of similar initiatives that have been pushed, or even adopted, in the US to what they had there that caused so much havoc.
