College Football Playoff expansion on hold,

With Oklahoma and Texas moving to SEC, odds are 50% of the playoffs will be allocated to SEC most years. ACC, P12, B12, ND, will be battling for 1 spot.

All other NCAA team sports have a legit playoff with all conference champions being included, except from D1 FBS. Yes even DIII, DII, and DI FCS football have legit playoffs.

Legit NC have this trophy not the Dr. Pepper fake trophies that Bama hails.

It's beyond stupid, it's corruption that FBS doesn't have a Playoff.

I'm not following your math... 4 x 50% = 1 spot?
SEC gets 2 spots, B10 is almost always getting a spot. Leaving 1 spot left.

Past History
100% of the time SEC gets a spot, 25% they get 2 spots
75% of the time B10 gets a spot (Ohio State getting in after playing only 6 games)
88% ACC Gets a spot, 13% if you're not Clemson
50% B12 gets a spot, 0% if you're not Oklahoma

But I am sure the committee will be fair and not find ways to choose 2 teams from SEC (+Oklahoma/Texas) and Ohio State from being in the playoffs most years.

UCFacts!

No shock and Cinci didn't do any favors for G5 teams. If they would have selected us in 2017, we would have seen expansion already.

This is unbelievable. 4 more years of just 4 invitational teams. Can you imagine how G5 teams are taking this. USF

LOL at the mention of usf taking this news poorly....if it was a 100 team invitational they wouldn't get in. Then they would start getting jumped by FCS and HS teams.

WOW usf has a football team?? I thought they were a WBB and mascot school.

the people that run this Sport are doing everything to make it less popular
NBC has just jumped into the bidding war for B10 tv rights. I don't think those that run the sport are in any fear as they watch networks battle one another to give a conference billions for TV rights.

blame that idiot Aresco for this. The rumor is he wasn’t budging on not accepting the P5 Auto Bid in a 12 team model ..now he and CUSA 2.0 gets nothing
It's not good for the AAC so I can't blame Aresco. I seem to remember the PAC12 commissioner was really against it and I assume all the "alliance" conferences were too.

I liked the top 6 conference champs + 6 at large bids model that some proposed. Seed it by BCS computers and save money on the committee. :)

I won't stop UCFighting for a legit playoff with all 10 conference champion included. D3, D2 and D1 FCS all have 20+ teams playoffs. And they have less scholarships, less coaches and less resources.

I get it. You have smart people who are paid a bunch of money to keep and make unfair competitive advantages for their conferences.

I might be naive. I believe at a certain point thr corruption becomes to obvious and the solution becomes too clear to avoid.

How in the world could this be approved with the current landscape and college realignment. I mean it should, but I feel like these guys will never agree, especially now. Like who gets autonomy, the PAC10 is dead or dying.
makes me think they will vote for no auto bids

I wanted auto bids to have something else to ‘separate’ UCF from the FAU and USF but we will have the big tv money gap and better fanbase. Better this than status quo, I will never understand the fans that like the current system or the BCS. I’d rather watch UCF’s season end in a 2nd round of a real Playoff vs playing the what if game after a Peach Bowl

This creates a basis of "equality" of some degree, thus impacting TV contracts...that's my guess. If they get it done in the for last 2 years and becomes wildly successful, I would imagine that would factor into value and auto-bidding when the new playoff format, whatever it is, begins.

Right. The committee is useless in picking the top 4 teams as-is. They don't even tell us now what actually determined their picks. They just look at the camera and say, "We are experts. Trust us. We got it right." How are they ever going to be able to pick out teams 7-12 if 1-6 automatically qualify. Get rid of them.

I'm with Honors. 10 conference champs and then some additional teams. Nobody gets a bye. If you're better, you'll win. Some people will argue they've earned it. If you played everybody, or most everybody, such as the case with the NFL, I can see a bye because you've earned it by your record on the field. In college the conferences aren't able to play each other enough so "the committee" would probably be the ones picking which teams get a bye? Seems like a load of shart since there would be 6 conference champs. Either they all get byes or none of them. Either way pitch the committee.

💯 100% agree.

The whole committee and polls is to retain power and an unfair playing field. It could take decades to unwind the effect of generations of bias.

What we have today is self fulfilling prophecy. These select few think they are better than them so they get all the advantages.

Level the playing field. Win your conference and you're in. Same requirement for every team. No special privileges or hurdles
