When there were calls here for a nationwide stay-at-home order, we were told that the President legally couldn't do that, short of declaring martial law. When the crisis was deepening and people were looking to our POTUS for leadership, Trump was happy to hide behind the Governors and let each state do what ever the hell their governor wanted to do in a piecemeal fashion.
But NOW?
The same guy who was happy to allow the Governors to take the heat -- and take the blame -- feels out of the loop because these same Governors are now working collectively to develop a coordinated plan for reopening the economy.
So what's the new message? As POTUS, he told reporters at his presser yesterday, he has total, absolute authority. None of the Governors can do anything without his approval.
