Defense spending about to massively increase under Trump

We need an a la carte tax system so I can pick and choose where the money stolen from me goes. Isn't our military spending already like 1000 times more than any other country? I swear this Bannon guy is just itching to get into some kind of war.

Good. Maybe now we won't have absurdities like 70% of our Super Hornet fleet being unable to fly.

I dont know if it needs to be completely eliminated, but severely reduced. Education should be a states issue.
If you don't eliminate something in Washington, it just slowly grows back bigger than ever.

There is really no need for the department of education, other than to force the state level education departments to work around it.

So you would be fine with public schools in Oklahoma teaching kids that people and dinosaurs co-existed together. Stuff like this would happen without any federal oversight.

$54 Billion increase is just 3% more than what Obama had projected for 2018.

McCain and his partner over in the house wanted a $640 Billion increase for 2018, to help get back some of the 20% cuts in military spending from Obama in recent years.

Who knows what finally gets approved but on a quiet day on Wall Street, Military stocks soared again.

Air superiority hasn't been a contest since WW2, but I guess you're real worried about all those Su-27s out there.

You really are a dumbass . I thought for a while you were pretending
chemtard back again.

Fire 75% of the Obama error Federal employees. Move those paychecks to the Military.

Libtard sjw commies will be aghast no doubt. While listening to them rend their garments, gnash teeth and wail, recall that $54 Billion will bring military spending about halfway back to where it was before Obamachump started hacking it to pieces. We have plenty of expensive bureaucrats to spare, many of whom make things worse, not better.

Explain yourself. Why am I a dumbass?
While you were just a dumb jock in college, and that led you to a successful plumbing and/or drywall career, I was studying advanced radar systems, and tracking and fusion algorithms. I know more about this subject, and more about the capabilities of Russia's fleet, than anyone in here.

Our military spending is 3x Russia and China, combined, and we need more...

I don't know shit about Russia's fleet . Don't claim to . But I'm smart enough to know that when you can't afford to fix your ships and planes that are a large part of your defense system you better spend some money and do so .

So, you admit you don't know shit. Don't call other people dumbasses when you don't know shit. Stick to talking about pick-up trucks and fishing.

There hasn't been a significant need for air superiority since WW2. The US has the best planes, best avionics equipment, and best trained pilots to go along with our enormous defense budget. Just because a few dumb rednecks are scared that the evil Ruskies are going to bomb us, doesn't mean we need to bleed even more money into our bloated defense budget.

That's not at all what I was saying but whatever makes you feel better fat boy

That's because our money actually goes into aircraft to maintain that edge. There have been tons and tons of new aircraft and advanced technology introduced into aerospace, and virtually nothing to little done for ground combat capabilities.

We're still using battle tanks and fighting vehicles that were developed in the early 80's.

In fact, most of what we use came from the Regan build up. That increase in spending produced the most sustainable fleet of new technologies and weapons in US history. Hence why another build up makes sense, unless you want our troops fighting with Bradleys until 2050.

Sure. If it's not broke don't fix it. We also have some of the most advanced fighter jet technology in the world.

The Abrams tank is the most battle hardened tank in the world, yet the German Leopard 2 is regarded across the board as a better tank. We haven't introduced a major new mobile land platform since the 80's.

That's crossing the line. BT is an honorable guy. I think you think you're probably just teasing, but you're very quick to go for the jugular here. No wonder tensions are high in the WC and people are leaving.

We have dams literally falling apart in which up to 100,000 lives were recently put at risk. I'm sorry but a military buildup just isn't needed when we already outspend all our competitors and our infrastructure is literally outdated shit and falling apart around us. Trump ran on infrastructure, we cant economically do both.

I'm okay with increased spending if It's targeted towards the Third Offset Strategy, things like hypersonic vehicles and directed energy. But spending on outdated equipment is a waste of money.

Just because Obama did, doesnt mean Trump should.

He's pulling it from other departments though. If we're going to waste money I'd rather it be spent on the military than a bunch of departments that only exist to create regulation and slow growth.

It's only $18B above Obama's 2017 Request.

I don't know why the media is pushing this as "$54B additional" when it's really not.

maybe its just me, but id like to see him find $54M in waste first, then add that to the defense budget.

I think the White House is pushing the $54B because it sounds better than "Obama was increasing defense budget by $36B and we want to add another $18B"

BTW, I read the total budget for all the agencies the WH wants to get money from is <$50B

Trump himself is boasting that his budget "calls for one of the largest increases in national defense spending in American history."

It's not the press - it's the President who is boasting about it.
