Didn’t look like a redshirt freshman

Played like a Sophomore KZ. Actually runs a tad better. I got scared when he hurt his leg. He’s a good kid and wants his degree. According to our Center he’s always studying. Mostly school but football as well. I don’t think he was going to transfer even if he didn’t play. He wants his degree just as bad as being the starter. Dream scenario for us. That’s why I don’t care about stars or offers. You don’t know what you have until they play.

The way a student athlete should be.

Rizk seems cerebral. QBs have to know the playbook and read defenses to be able to deliver the ball to the open receiver…..particularly when there’s a blitz or plays break down. Love that he does the little things like when he extends the ball out in front for that extra yard. Lots of fight and effort as he is out there throwing blocks for his RBs.

Rizk knew where players were supposed to be on extended plays. Case in point was when he was getting sacked and flipped an incomplete pass to Harvey. He went through 3-4 progressions and although incomplete, avoided a big loss and the sack. Those types of plays keep drives alive, milk the clock and dishearten defenses.

Rizk looks confident and in command on the field. He’s far more athletic than I thought breaking that safety’s ankles on that 30 + yard run and on that quick turnaround to avoid a sack in the pocket. He’s a much better runner than I thought and more than effective running the ball. It’s only one full game, but promising. I wasn’t sure we’d see 200 yards passing this season…and he barely missed throwing for 300 yards! If he and the defense continue this play…we have a shot at winning out.

He is good and yes smart. On and off field. Gus should emphasize being smart over athletic. Athletic is great but smart is more important.

All season this has felt like 2011 over and over again. Keep sticking the wrong QB out there until it was past obvious which guy should be playing. The good thing is maybe we finally turned a corner and found a QB to settle on for a few years.

You get the QB position figured out, it’ll overcome a lot of other shortcomings your team has as well as letting you concentrate more on the other aspects of your team.

We only have a1 game sample size against a bad team but this is the most positive thing I’ve seen from our team in years. We can find capable skill position players, especially when you have a good QB.

Qb had a great day, but AZ defense is bad and banged up. I hope he is the answer for us, but lets wait and see how he does over the next few games.

As for him being the obvious Starter all along, we don't see what other's see in practice. He may not of shown them much up to this point.

Next week in a hostile environment will be tough. Still, by far, he gives us the best opportunity!!!

As a poster pointed out last week, he is now in film. Good DCs will study his tendencies and be able to put defenders in situations to stop us. But Rizk is cerebral and knows the defenses tendencies. He will win the chess match.

He looked pretty good for a kids first game, no matter the competition. He's got to get reps and learn. He's going to make mistakes. He's also going to make plays (hopefully). Big test at conference road game against a solid 6-2 Az State, who only lost road games @Texas Tech, and @Cincy (had to play a backup QB in this game).
