Associate head coach Shawn Finney appeared postgame on the radio with Marc Daniels. I'm not aware of any Orlando media traveling to Hartford, but the conference always forces the head coach to go the press conference before radio and apparently 740 couldn't be on the air beyond 6 p.m. so Marc interviewed Finney instead.

On the final play:

"We had B.J. coming off a double screen there, trying to come off and get penetration into the zone. As he got off he didn't get into the paint, so he threw it back to Kasey. Kasey took a tough shot. They did a good job containing. Kasey took a tough shot, but still had a decent straight look. Unfortunately, it didn't go in."

Prior to the final possession, UCF was winded because they had to keep playing extended defense because ECU kept grabbing offensive rebounds.

"That was a big factor. About a minute and a half we had to play on defense. They kept us on D, so we were fatigued there. All that being side, we got the stop and were in position to win."

The game was lopsided early. ECU led 30-13 midway through the first half before UCF rallied and cut the halftime deficit to eight.

"The big thing we had to do was guard their pick and rolls better. That's where they were hurting us... We played much tougher and more aggressive in the second half, more with a purpose. That was the difference."

Kasey Wilson had the put-back shot to force overtime.

"The guys just played relentlessly. To win games you have to make plays. Unfortunately we didn't get a couple rebounds at the end of that overtime that would have given us more opportunities with more time on the clock. We have to get rebounds."

Marc noted that Adonys Henriquez played the most minutes of anyone in the league this season. He scored 17 today. B.J. Taylor scored 22, quite a turnaround from beginning the game 0-5.

"It's going to be a great maturing summer. The fatigue won't be there as much next year. It was a long season for the freshmen, running through screens, taking elbows. It's an adjustment they have to make. They'll add strength this summer. You'll see more confident players next year. They'll have already been through a season of conference play."

Justin McBride played 31 minutes and scored 12 points.

"As you saw tonight he played with a lot more intensity. He's got to be able to carry that into the spring and summer and into next fall to be able to play basketball 4-6 minutes in a row. When he can do that he impacts the game. When he's in the paint there's nothing they can do. He's got to work on post-ups and his conditioning."

Kasey Wilson, playing his final game, scored 11 points including the one to force OT. Unfortunately he couldn't hit the game winner.

"Kasey had a great career over the last four years impacting this team in a lot of ways, on the court and off the court. Kasey, when we came to this league which is more physical, had to adjust his game. The quickness of this league has taken some of the threes away from him. He had a great career, finished with a good game. It would have been nice for him if he'd made that shot."

In the final question, Marc asks a question about the future as UCF will bring in six new players next year - the four recruits, transfer A.J. Davis and Matt Williams returning from injury.

"We're real excited for next year. Losing only Kasey and we're bringing in six new players that will have an impact on the court that can change your team. The key is how to blend this summer, creating new team chemistry. That's a big key of how we keep growing from now to next year. I think we have a chance to be a much better team and have a much better season."
