If you didn't watch the Lovelady interview from yesterday, I asked about the status of the Siena series moving forward. The two schools have played almost every year, going back 20+ years. Often for Opening Weekend.
Not that any UCF fans care specifically about Siena, but Lovelady did confirm the longstanding series is coming to an end, at least for now.
In the AAC, UCF has been playing 24 conference games while most leagues play 30 conference games. That has allowed for six weekends of non-conference opponents.
In the Big 12, UCF will play 30 conference games (10 weekends) and has also committed to playing South Florida on a weekend.
So out of 14 weekends during the course of a college baseball season, 11 are already spoken for.
That leaves just three weekends to work with in future years.
UCF still wants to play high-profile opponents - I think Clemson will return the trip next year (will confirm that tomorrow).
As for northern opponents, you might see Ryan Klosterman's Bryant Bulldogs pay a visit soon.
