Fire Malzahn

You know who you call ? Jay Gruden. Local. Has a great track record. Got into a little bit of a "bad habit" with some stuff with the Redskins, but that team and city is a horrible place, anyway.

Come home, Jay....

You mean Jon Gruden bring Jay in as OC...make it a family affair.

Seriously, Jay Gruden would make a great addition to UCF's coaching staff. He knows how to relate to players, is down-to-Earth, and his offensive mind is out of this world. He has the knowledge and talent that his brother thinks he has.

What Jay Gruden did on a shoestring budget with the Orlando Predators was truly impressive.

This is the dumbest thread I may have seen on this site.
Some people just aren't happy if we're not dropping 50 each game. USF and many other AAC schools would give their right nut to be in our place and we're bitching when Plumlee isn't dropping at least 300yrd passing each game. I'm certain those folks never went through the winless seasons and never developed appreciation and humility of our resources and what we've currently built as a program. I can understand why others think our fans are a-holes.

Exactly. These people should go and peruse the cowpen and see what real suffering and a coach that needs to be fired looks like. I just went to the TN UF game this weekend and every fanbase has tons of delusional assholes, they had about 100,000 of them there. We are no different.

We have a different offensive philosophy these days but our defense is tough. Were going to win alot of games 27-10 or 28-20 and im ok with that

A random idiot Gator fan asked me if I’m ready to see real football and did the lame chomp at me. I told him I saw some real football at the Gasparilla Bowl where we whooped that ass lol. He got all mad and said they had players sit out. I said name them, we had players out too. He couldn’t, got all mad and just walked away…seemed like I crushed his soul, got eem.

In spring 2018, I had a UCF alum that owned a print shop make me up a nice national champions banner and the owner where I work made a Florida Gators fan hang it up out in the warehouse.

I paid 100 bucks for this thing, but it was worth it. Nice vinyl, double sided, and it helped out a UCF fan and local business owner.

I don’t think Niumatalolo or Jimbo gets fired anytime soon. Navy will give him a long leash and he has had success there in his long tenure. Their main priority after all is to form young leaders for our military and he seems to have great respect in that department. Jimbo’s deal is fully guaranteed and he’s owed a king’s ransom if he were to be fired. I know TAMU has deep pockets, but even for them that’s a stiff bill. He’s also having decent success, not like he’s Jeff Scotting it, just not beating Alabama…but who is right?

Ive heard Navy firing is possible by multiple outlets. Which doesn’t make sense because no one can win there.

I just have my doubts about him being fired this year but anything is possible these days. They just beat ECU so they are 1-0 in conference play.

Help me understand. I see things about players being "recruited by" the academies, but don't you have to have a Congressional appointment to go to a service academy, and even then, its no guarantee because some with appointments don't even get in?

I agree though. It seems impossible to win at an academy, but on the other hand, what you aren't able to recruit in football talent, you make up for (some) with disciplined players and good attitude, from people who really want to be there and who are willing to work hard.

There's also a lot of PT as part of being at an academy, even for non-athletes. So in a similar way to how service academies have an unlimited number of scholarship players (because everyone there is on a scholarship, and its not a benefit of being an athlete), is there also additional PT since everyone else at the academy has to do it too?

go show me where anyone said drop 50 a game or JRP should throw 300 yards a game.

Gus and JRP put up 1 touchdown against a team that quit abc a Skelton coaching staff who were looking for other jobs. JRP threw for less than 100 yards against a god awful defense. Gus literally cost us against Louisville because he refuses to change.

You bring up uf fine let’s bring up uf. Dan mullen and Todd grantham ran that program into the ground because A) Dan Mullen refused to adapt his style and approach B) He refused to fire his friends. What are the biggest issues with Gus? A) He refuses to adapt and B) he refuses to fire his friends hand and chip Lindsey. Hmmm it’s like coaches that fail fall into the same pattern. How odd.

I wonder what the sunshine pumpers will say if we fall on our face offensively against smu and Gus refuses to adapt again.

Ive never really been privy to the process of recruiting to the academies. Not sure how it works. They just can’t get blue chippers because you may not be allowed to go pro even if the NFL will give you a chance.

Maybe things have changed, but Mid 80s to 90s if you had an appointment you pretty much got in. .Mids had to play a varsity or intramural sport after classes end around 3pm. Other than that, they didn’t have to do additional PT. For example, each battalion has a wrestling team which competes against the other battalion teams. Not uncommon to have 4-5 high school state/district level wrestling champions competing on these intramural teams.

Tough to recruit at the Naval Academy. Every major has to take Calculus 1 through Differential equations, Physics with Calculus 2, Chemistry 2 and other Engineering courses. Most are taking 20-21 credits every semester, and spend a month or so of their summer in Naval training.

They get hazed for their first (plebe) year, have to run (chop) in their dorm as they’re not allowed to walk in the dorm until their 2 nd (youngster) year, have to yell every upcoming meal’s menu in the hallway, only get to leave campus the first year for about 8 hours on Saturdays. Then they must be willing to go on 9 month deployments while serving a minimum of 5 years…..not for most high school students, much less the top recruits who dream of playing in the NFL.

If we keep firing coaches, we end up like USF. Generally speaking, USF has been paying 2 head coaches for the better part of the last decade. The only one they didn't have to pay to leave was CWT - he bounced to 3 schools over 5 years (Oregon, FSU, and FAU). Last I heard, this is the final year of CCS's contract. USF has had Leavitt, Holz, Taggert, Strong, and Scott since 2010 when they fired Leavitt for his sideline performance.

We are about to move to a new conference where we will begin to see BIG12 money. I think the best thing for UCF is to keep Gus, if we continue to struggle in the BIG12, we will have money and will be able to get a new coach with less of a buyout.
