After watching that, I wonder how much popular culture has now turned college coaches into hip-hop salesmen.
It's about giving the players what they want.
Some coaches (like Twill and Hand) enjoy hip hop as much as the athletes do so they have some fun with it. Gus on the other hand may not be that into hip hop so you probably wont see him rapping. I don't see how you can compare this to hiring escorts for the players.
I'd have to go back and find it, but I remember reading a few years ago about how a whole lot of college coaches were having to familiarize themselves with popular anime, because it was popular with a lot of recruits.

Impressing parents is just as valuable as the recruits. In the end anime and the kind of music people listen to is not important.
