THANK YOU Academia! You are the gift that keeps on giving to most of America.

Looks like he has the same wishes for the same state he teaches in too.

From link below:

Responding to a commenter who pushed back on the tweet, Storey reportedly wrote: “Well, the good people there need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes. I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.”

The commenter asked Storey if Trump supporters in Florida deserved a similar fate.

“Yep, those who voted for him here deserve it as well.”

Social media is amazing. Usually you have to wait until people are drunk to find out what they really think. Now, you just wait for any national news event to find out how horrible some people are inside.

Yeah, it was better back in the day when only those in tight circles in academia would know how many of them were psychotic. Now, they tweet out their loonacy to the world for all to see.

FWIW my wife went to U of Tampa. It is by no means a left wing campus. It's actually a fairly neutral place since their biggest claim to fame is their Sykes School of Business- there's not much room for commies in a Business school.

I would bet U of T fires this clown. It's a private school with big donors who are conservatives.

Prof for slapped.

No matter how much you want to be true, it isn't. Just like how not all Christians think hurricane Katrina was caused by gays in New Orleans (despite Pat Robertson's claims). This most recent tweet is just one on a long line of idiots saying idiotic things. Hopefully he we will be fired for his stupidity (unlike Robertson).

Nah, just like the entire left all agrees with him on the inside, the entire right all agrees with the Nazis and KKK. It's like a fact.

Yawn. False and lazy comparison.

It's not even a secret that left wingers believe that GOP voters in these states "get what they vote for!" when they assume they're all climate change deniers. There have been many articles written by lefties saying exactly this. This is why, every time we get any type of storm, they fly in from the roof to declare that global warming is to blame and that GOP voters share the burden of responsibility.

It's the exact same thing you are arguing!!!

Holy hell I try to be patient but damn you are delusional.

I am not sure but I hope he is talking about the lack of building regulations in Texas especially stormwater management. For those of you that don't know, the reason we have a ton of man-made lakes in Florida is not to sell you/rent a lakefront property. Developers have to build ponds anytime they increase the impervious area

I am sure that is what the Sociology Professor from Florida meant. ;) Sadly, that wasn't it as he wants bad things to happen seemingly to any state that dared not vote for his candidate (TX, FL and probably more).

I doubt that's what he's talking about very seriously . I've seen too many comments that Trump supporters deserve this , people that disagree with global warming , climate change deserve this and deserve no sympathy .

Then he is a piece of shit.
BTW, before reading the article about the lack of stormwater planning I was wondering why so many neighborhoods were under water so quickly. Everything we design has to be 1-2 ft above the 100-year flood elevation (I know this is a 1000-year event).
Houston may want to invest on some tunnels to take stormwater straight to the sea (at least from teh dams)

Honestly, the storm event is beyond all predictable models. There is literally no conveyance system that would have been able to handle even half as much water as this deluge. Sure, there could have been more done, but it wouldn't have prevented this flooding at this scale. Even so, most stormwater systems in FL are only designed to handle a 10-year or 25-year event. My street flooded last month after we got over 6 inches of rain in an hour and the storm sewers couldn't keep up. I had about an inch of water in my garage and had it gone up another 3 inches, it would have flooded my house. Thankfully, it didn't. But the storm sewers were working fine and as designed. They just weren't designed to handle that much volume that quickly.

They've had 3-4 feet of rain. There is no stormwater planning for that. Florida would be under water too with that type of rainfall.

Well we're a bunch of racist KKK loving conservatives here in FL so we deserve it too.

Maybe a storm can hit New England again so these lefties can finally feel a shred of remorse for people suffering.

I honestly hate when people get fired for their political views they post on twitter/fb/whatever. Unless its affecting their jobs, I generally dont agree.

My problem is that the left has been going after right leaning people for so long with this tactic that it is tempting to be happy about this.

They fired the assbag

But Pat Robertson still has a job and is getting donations. So in summary:

Someone on the left makes an idiotic statement regarding hurricanes, and gets immediately shit canned.

Someone on the right makes an idiotic statement regarding hurricanes, still getting money pouring in.

Saying people in Houston deserve what they're getting because of who they voted for is not a political view.

I agree its incredibly stupid considering there are plenty of people in TX that didnt vote for Trump and they got screwed just the same. Like Trump had anything to do with this at all is insane.

Not really a political views this guy took, it was a dumbass and incredibly fuked up view.

Why are you so butthurt about Pat Robertson? I had to look him up just to remember who it is you're crying about since he's that irrelevant.

But to answer your question- Robertson runs an obscure Christian TV network that no Christians I know actually watch. Or have heard of. So I'm guessing it would be hard to be fired from something you're CEO of and is irrelevant anyways.

On the other hand, the current Tampa assbag made these dogshit comments and he's a professor at a university. You know, where kids are supposed to be taught how to enter the real world and be a productive member of society. Many of whom probably have ties to the area that is currently being flooded out of existence.

But who cares- tell me more about how meanie Pat Robertson offended your sensitivities.

I didn't even bring him up until your snowflake self was whining incessantly about some Podunk professor at an even more Podunk college who made an idiotic statement (that everyone on here has said is Idiotic, even the resident lefties much to your dismay) that got him immediately fired.

I'm trying really hard here to find some outrage over this course of events deep inside me, but I think you are faux raging hard enough for all of us

LOL! You clicked on a thread clearly about this professor and launched straight into crying about Pat Robertson.

"But Pat Robertson did it too!!! Wahhh!!!"

Yes he did, and he's still getting donations pouring in, unlike this dumbass that got fired immediately (like I said I hoped would happen).

What exactly are you going to faux rage over now? That he didn't get thrown in jail? That would be par for the course with your understanding of the 1st amendment.

Good point on both.

With Tampa being a small private school...it was much easier for them to make decision...while a large public general has their hands tied with much more powerful unions.

Jesus. The amount of crying here is insane.

Here, snowflake- let me help: if the asshat that was just fired wants to start his own network, or channel, or blog, or whatever, and ask people to donate to keep that up and running, then he can have at it. Absolutely nothing is stopping him. He can make all of the shitty comments he wants when he's running his own gig. Until then, sane society will assure that asshats like him are not charged with educating our young people.

Mmmmmkay?

Tl;Dr but I did lol at your first post whining about me whining in a thread whose sole purpose was to whine

I know it was/is an extreme rain event and the stormwater system was not going to keep up. The problem is that without planning you end up with areas with 10-15 ft of water, because the water doesn't have a way out, while other areas are dry. If you look at the stormwater ponds, they are interconnected because they are designed to store the water for a while and release it over time. The city/town/neighborhood is going to flood but the levels would be lower and the peak wouldn't we as high. All the water that fell on (and around) Houston will try to get out at the same time and the peak is going to be insane. Good planning would spread that water over several days
