Fresno State QB Mikey Keene Enters Transfer Portal After Two Seasons With Bulldogs

I have a feeling he’ll be like KJ here for us after he was pulled. Just helped QBs and was a cheerleader. He realizes he won’t get nfl money so he may as well get NIL to help other QBs. Maybe he goes into coaching in 2 years.
I don't think I'd give up a starting gig for what, $100k max? Can't see Mikey making more than that.

That’s what I was thinking Think coaching is a future. Great guy to have in QB room

KJ ugh !!!! KJ really screwed this team this year.
Nope, we heard stuff like this about him before he came in.....this mistake was all on gus and Hinshaw.

Gus yes for bringing him in but KJ lack of dedication is a sign of a guy who has no determination to succeed I am not a big Hinshaw fan ( I thought they could have done better in the OC position than him, but I think Gus crushed any real OC coming in ) but your infatuation of Hinshaw having anything to do with bringing in KJ is unwarranted KJ came for money and continued to feed himself w no control. Gus controlled entirely his coming in here, no one else. Perhaps his conscience led to him forfeiting his buyout

Disagree, I'm sure Hinshaw's role in this was to evaluate the film, make a recommendation, and participate in discussions.....that is what QB coaches DO.

They are never surprised by a guy showing up unannounced.

There was all kinds of talk why Arkansas pushed a 3 year starter out the door.....

Hinshaw was brought in to be the offensive coordinator and somewhat forced on Gus He never really acclimated to having Hinshaw on the staff. I’m sure that he had nothing to do with bringing in KJ. Absolutely nothing this was all Gus‘s decision.

I think this is the result of the new 105 rule for schools that do revenue sharing. The 85 scholly limit was lifted to 105 next year. Meanwhile total team size is cut down from like 128 players to 105, sacrificing walk-ons.

We'll see a concentration of the best players to rich schools and their walk-ons trickle down non-rev sharing schools. As we see with Mikey, Michigan has the resources to keep more scholarship QBs than before, choking out the less affluent schools. With $22MM to be distributed, the kids will likely prefer taking the money over a chance to play at a poorer school.
Good Point

Seriously, what do you think QB coaches do?
Do you really think that Hinshaw had any input whatsoever in KJ coming here? He was fired as the offensive coordinator, even though he really wasn’t the offensive coordinator, prior to the season . He was an outcast from the middle of last season

Btw I’m pretty sure I know what quarterback coaches do lol

I'm totally sure you don't, but whatever.....Merry Christmas to you!

While it wouldn’t solve the “rich vs. poor” issue entirely, I think there should be something similar to a salary cap in college football.

Every P4 school is capped at sharing $20.5M with their players next season. Then it goes up 4% a year.

They don’t make the same amount as each conference has their own distribution deal(s). Any NIL I believe is above and beyond.

Salary cap works if everyone is sharing the same revenue and tv contracts. SEC/B1G have significantly larger tv contracts, if they agreed to a salary cap it would be at a significantly higher amount than the other conferences.

The more ACC/B12/G5 try to push SEC/B1G to share, quicker those two and the tv networks push for NFL Jr.

https://nil-ncaa.com/big12/ Even the differences amongst B12 schools is pretty dramatic.

Will be funny if players don't accept a salary cap as they have unprecedented power right now that no professional sport has ever had.

I don't think that is the case, just schools/alumni acting weak. Also its not like the 18 year olds are the ones making demands/negotiating, its sports agents that are doing everything on their behalf to get the most value for their client and themselves.

The agents are probably laughing, in professional sports the teams are filled with business people focused on making sound financial decisions. University Collectives, are frenzy alumni/fans that want players now, see KJ Jefferson deal. While the agent probably knows he is worth nothing.

It's a mess and one that I hope somehow gets fixed real soon.

As long as you have millions of people following recruits/players social media accounts begging them to go to their school, probably not.

UCF having their players advertise social media accounts in spring games is just another way to drive of player interest and value at the expense of the school.
