Why are we still stuck scheduling FIU, FAU, BCC, etc ?. I thought we had outgrown these rinky dink teams and as an 18 year season ticket holder I am not excited about increased costs to watch these garbage games. Please don't give me the "can't find anyone to play" excuse. It's your job to make it happen, otherwise you risk fan indifference, national credibility issues ( see Marshall), etc. Am I on an island here or do others share my frustration?

I would not say that you are on an island... however, first, it is an instate matchup and I am sorry but FAU gets some decent recruits (check out thier rivals and 247 pages) it cant hurt pounding them into the ground. Second, I am sure the administration is looking for better matchups, but the teams have to want to play us. If I am a power 5 team, there is no way I am scheduling UCF. They have everything to lose and nothing to gain by losing to us.

I do share your frustration and think there should be something we can do, I just don;t know what it is.

I think (but I am not sure) that in a home and home series, the payout to the visiting team is the same. So, for example, UCF might receive $300K to play the away game and then pay that team $300K for the home game. What if UCF were to pay the visiting team more than what we receive for the away game? But to most P5 schools an extra $100K - $200K is chump change in their budgets so I doubt it would be enough of an incentive...plus it sets a very bad precedent for the future.

If you have any suggestions on how to get a P5 team to play at UCF, I am sure the UCFAA would listen.

There's a bunch of fans on this board who will disagree about your opinion of outgrowing these teams. Personally driving to FAU in 2019 is a good reason to drive to South Florida.

Yeah and that find anyone to play excuse has worn itself out. If i was a P5 team looking for a ooc game against a G5 team for next year, id look at UCF and think 2013 squad has mostly graduated, Oc retired, lost three straight to my P5 peers and are breaking in a bunch of new players. That doesnt cry zomg UCF might beat us to me.

It's difficult to get P5 games as a G5 school or else we would be getting them. We don't want one and done road games unless it's a totally marquis game for premium money like Michigan or Ohio State. Most P5 teams don't want to do a 1 and 1 series because they have too much to lose by losing an away game to UCF and have too much to lose financially traveling to BHNS instead of the revunue that they could bring for a home game at a stadium that holds 70,000-100,000 fans.

We were very lucky to get USC, Texas, and Stanford.

Why are so many people on this board having such a hard time grasping this???

Yes but don't feel bad, there are many football programs stuck together on survivor island.

P5 has made new landscape for us along with our success.

Although we have something to prove (we deserve better spot/consideration for the playoffs),
many P5 guys don't want to rock the boat too much by playing us.

It's not all bad and even though GOL wants to play all very competitive
football games, if we play two less competitive games outside our conference
along with two competitive P5 games outside our conference we will
have enough of a challenge, I believe to get into the playoffs if we're undefeated.

At this stage, I would just love to see us go 12-0 since we have been 12-1.
It's the next step that our program should aim for as it's something that is within our control.

We'll never go 12-0 under GOL. You have to know how to play hard for 60 minutes to do that.

If 5 time national champion University of Miami has not outgrown doing a home and home with FAU, I don't think we have either.

You must be on an island if you think all it takes is UCF calling a P5 and every P5 is anxiously waiting for the phone to ring just hoping, hoping it's UCF calling. Please tell me exactly what UCF can do to force these teams to play us? "Afraid to play us" might get tiring, but it's just a guess since no P5 team has stated any reason why they won't play us. It's a guess. You may be sick of it, but frankly I'm sick of the whining about why we can't get good teams to play us here. Do you actually think UCF isn't trying? In the end, I hated seeing us playing BCC and really hoped the days of FCS\1-AA games were over, but we can't force Tenn. Bama or others to play us and I doubt a muffin basket would change their minds.

I did think that GOL could go 12-1 and win a BCS game.

FYI...a team (Boston College) that UCF was talking with about a home and home decided to schedule a SECOND FCS team in 2015 rather than come to Orlando too play UCF.

We cannot FORCE teams to come here.

Personally, I am so frustrated at these P5 teams arrogance, I just started calling them out on it on the ACC ESPN blog.

We beat BC three years ago and we beat NC State on the road and they barely escaped us in 2010. We went on to have an overwhelmingly better record than they did since. We still got embarassed at the Bitcoin Bowl.

With UCF the only thing for sure is nothing is for sure.

I'm happy with the weak schedule and going 12-1, 13-0 every year. We can get a home and home with at least 1 to P5 if we have a high enough profile. Look at Boise. Go 12-1, 13-0, reduce the size of stadium. Create beer garden. Make it a party! We really need to be angling for one of those Kick-off Classics in Atlanta with a lower level SEC team like the Miss twins.

The interesting thing is seeing people come on these boards and start spewing stuff.

First off if you would have knowledge of uf, FSU, or even Miami's schedules over the years you will see they also play other teams within the State of Florida. Having us play FAU one game a season is a no brainer, the same as us having usf on the schedule. It adds to a UCF fans social fun to be at a game and both of those games are easy to travel to.

If you choose not to attend those games, don't worry there will be thousands of UCF fans there without you....

If only real life was like XBox where you can just schedule your favorite team against the Top 12 teams in the country every year.

I started at UCF in 1990. I go back 24 years with the UCF football team. We are at the point where we are getting to play South Carolina, Penn State, BYU, Texas, Missouri, NC State, & BC on a regular basis even though we aren't in a P5 conference. I'm not sure why people expect more until we get into a P5 conference.

I don't think there's anything to be gained by looking down our noses at FIU, FAU, and BCC as "inferior" programs, especially when FIU just got a win against us 4 years ago. There's double standard in complaining about those schools being on our schedule when we complain about P5 schools not wanting to play us. If a P5 program doesn't want to play us, all we can do is look elsewhere. We can't force anyone to play us.

In reference to paying increased ticket prices to see FAU and FIU as part of the home schedule: If you're only going to UCF games when we play against "name" opponents, that's not being much of a fan. You should go to support UCF no matter who we play.

i agree there's no reason to be thumbing our nose down at schools when it wasnt long ago we were in the same place. In some ways we still are - with our fanbase upset that we cant play a P5 team in a bowl, but when we do are team loses more often than not.

Playing FAU is a great idea! Really helps bond the State, stimulates FLorida economy, helps with recruiting. The state of florida should play more in-state games with each other etc.

Ditto on both points.

Its not like UCF is scheduling all 12 games each year vs FAU and FIU...we are talking about maybe 1 game per year.

Also, since a lot of UCF Fans couldn't afford trips to the BCS Fiesta Bowl and/or to the Penn State Game in Ireland (let alone the game at Stanford this year) its actually a good thing that UCF could have a non-conf road game once in a while where most UCF fans can make that easy drive. (Most UCF fans probably live within 1-3 hours of Boca)
