GAMEDAY! UCF Visiting ASU!

The following is an interesting and not very flattering article by Alex Scarborough, ESPN Staff Writer concerning Gus at Auburn. In many ways I see similarities during his time here at UCF.

Well it's that just a carbon copy of what's happening here. Terry has to see this playing out in right in front of him.

It's gross negligence.

Some of my favorite excerpts from the article:
"It's who we are,"
"Do what you know and stick with it."
Asked if he wished his offense was still a rarity, Gus answered, "Maybe a little bit but we're still pretty unique."
Asked do you research other teams during the off season, Gus bluntly answered, “"No. We try to do what we do better."
He runs an overly simplistic "high school offense. . . The same small number of plays run over and over."
He thinks he can run his offense against anybody. “You'll beat some of these also-rans and the Vanderbilts and the Kentuckys and all those, but there are good coaches and they will shut you down in a heartbeat."
He couldn't settle on where he was headed. An unwillingness to cede control of the offense to coordinators was a theme during Malzahn's tenure. “Malzahn would ping-pong from being the CEO and his need to be and the hands-on coach he said he really was.”
Despite many magical moments, consistency was the thing that eluded Malzahn.

These are quotes from a coach who has let the game pass him and he doesn't want to change. That should be Gus' red flag to retire.

my .02 - I think he gets another year and if it's similar results he gets canned end of 2025 season.

Rizk is clearly the future.

Bust is not.
Rizk has skills. He is early in his learning curve and will get better. The Offense was pretty good again this game. The D was inconsistent.
Played well at times and got burned on pass plays at other times. Young player mistakes really hurt, but again that is what happens when you play young players. AZ state is a solid team.

As for Gus being given everything needed, we are near the bottom funding wise of B12. Every coach has what is needed to thrive.

I would get rid of everybody on the staff except for one guy: Hinshaw. He has shown that he can make a positive impact on the QBs when given more power to do so, and he hand picked the best one of the bunch in Rizk.

Defense didn’t play that bad. 14 points came off of punt block and pick 6.
