A position of need for UCF this offseason was offensive center, and the Knights moved quickly to fill that role by adding Drake Metcalf from Stanford.

Metcalf will look to anchor a relatively veteran group that will be tasked with protecting QB John Rhys Plumlee and opening running lanes for a talented group of running backs.

It is amazing that a career backup will win the job over an all-conference 31-game starter. It speaks to the depth of the offensive line at Stanford and to the ability of Michigan center Ted Nudget, who started over Metcalf and won the job like it was nobody's business.
