I checked the participation chart for the season, and a bunch of scholarship players haven't played a snap this season.

Joey Gatewood -- Gus could move him back to QB and red shirt Thomas Castellanos. (Just kidding!)

LBs TerrAnce Lewis -- may never play a down for UCF -- and Quade Mosier -- how long is he going to milk that injury?

QBs Will Bohn, Mikey Keene, and Brock Hansel

DE Malachi Lawrence -- Dude had a huge fumble return against SCS, Gus called him "Malachi Singleton," and I haven't seen him since. What gives?

OL Patrick Burnett and Adrian Medley -- both quintessential chicken eaters

WRs Amari Johnson -- legitimately injured, will return -- and Quan Lee -- overrated or more worried about making NIL money than practicing football or both?

RBs Anthony Williams -- hard to get snaps on this team -- and MAR, who is apparently invisible. He has played in virtually every game, but I haven't seen him and he hasn't recorded a stat.

On a side note....

LB Kam Moore, DE Jamaal Johnson, S Demari Henderson, S William Wells, and WR Stephen Martin will see their playing time increase in coming weeks.

Lastly, Javon Baker's production may slack off as teams delegate their No. 1 corner on him. O'Keefe will face the slot corner and continue to put up steady numbers and lead the team in receptions from now on. Kobi Hudson, however, will take off as the No. 3 receiver because he is superior to every opponent's No. 2 corner.

Baker is not the 1. He’s probably 8th option now behind, JRP, all 3 RBs, Okeefe, Hudson, and both TEs at least. He had a couple good games and nothing recently. Probably out for a bit anyway.

???? Are you watching UCF games? Baker was our best WR for the first 5 games and has a good rapport with JP. I expect him to continue that when he gets back

I want to see TC redshirt, so now MK can play in his 4 games if needed and keep his (if that is the deal he has with Gus). I hope one of the walk-ons can contribute if needed.

Alot of these guys are NGEs or just losing in the numbers game. I have no idea why MAR can't see the field on offense.

Since Hudson started playing Baker has no TDs. 0. 7 other players have scored. Including McDonald and Castellanos. Baker gets yards but only has 2 TDs in 6 games. Hudson has 2 in 2 games. Even before he got hurt, Baker was invisible in Temple game. I was wondering if he was even playing. He may be out a bit now anyway. Offense does better when spreading ball around. Not force feeding one guy.

Baker is the best all around WR we have, I think. Combo of size, agility, soft hands, and ball skills has NFL written all over it.
Even in his good games if the ball isnt in perfect spot he doesn’t adjust well. NFL receivers go get it. Gabe Davis. Fought for ball and went to get it. Baker needs to improve there.

So far he is the best possession and route runner we have. O' Keefe is faster and more dynamic.

To reiterate, Javon Baker is now getting every opponent's No. 1 corner. Earlier in the season, he was going against No. 2 corners.

This is the main reason his production has slipped.

Which means he won’t play on Sundays. Every DB is the college best corner.

Gus said in a recent interview that he's trying to preserve MK and TC' redshirt.

I am going to be real brah. If Gus said that, he's a dumb somebitch.

What GUS needs to say is "We are trying to win a championship right now. Everything is on the table. We are going to play the best players at the positions where they give us a chance to win any given Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

"If that means putting Thomas Castellanos at RB and benching a lost-in-a-ball-of-high-weeds QB (John Rhys Plumlee) for a future NFL Hall of Fame QB (Mikey Keene), then that's what we're gonna do."

(I am joking about the Keene part only.)

Hudson played more snaps than Baker in the SC State and Georgia Tech games, yet did not record a catch.
Probably had more to do with JRP and OL issues. Not a ton of time to throw, had to go to first option and Hudson wasn’t it. The throws that did go to him were all bad drops too. Took some time to gel, hopefully continues and we see a lot of stats from all the skilled guys.

Hudson seems to have his confidence back and the play calling with quicker throws from the RPO (slants and finding holes in the secondary depending on the scheme) are important for his getting more involved. As long as Gus and Chip take what they give us, Hudson will be increasingly involved. We'd be undefeated and Top 20 if we'd have adjusted to that gameplan earlier in the season.

Won’t write off season until we are mathematically eliminated from AAC Championship…speaking of math…BIG12 contract awaits…JWB

Sometimes JRP was just standing there with plenty of time to throw or make a sandwich. He can't throw a pass 60% of the time.

It's progressions and JRP still has to learn how to go through them. If the passing options (multiple) are not available, look to tuck it and run and if that's not available throw it away. It's a lot to digest but he's got to do it to grow as a QB. I thought that we saw that against Temple, but it was wishful thinking. The coaching staff has to teach him and then enforce his going through the progressions. It's not easy but JRP is a smart kid and has got to force himself to do it. The game just has to slow down for him and he has to focus on doing his job. He needs to be told that to remain QB1, no more ECU's. His 3 int's and a fumble made that game unwinnable.

Agreed. Also he needs to learn to keep looking downfield while scrambling. A few times receivers came open while he was scrambling but he was looking at the defenders trying to tackle him and missed open chances to pick up 10-15 yard completions instead of getting sacked.

Of course, the OLine has to block better and give JRP some time to be a QB and not have to run for his life. Here's an example of the OLine failing to do their job led by #72 (who has whiffed an awful lot in pass protection this season).

We need KZ to do a school for our QBs on the technique he learned from Scott Frost's QB coach to read defenses and process passing options rapidly. Milton's improvement from freshmen year to next 2 seasons was partially due to him digesting that coaches book on how to see the field and make quick decisions.

JRP needs this discipline and the determination to stay with the process. One other observation which was obvious in interception last game is JRP only has the throw a pass on a line (rope) skill. There are times he needs to be able to drop a pass into the 10/15/20 yard space for a completion and he just has the ability to throw a hard pass.
