Heupel

Funny how Heupel is doing so well and Frost is disgraced lol. Opposite of what I thought.
The fans for Tennessee was ready for some offense. The prior coach could not score in the red zone. It's a win for Heupel.... I think at UCF he lacked in recruiting and depth on defense. He has NO problems recruiting at Tennessee that compensated his weakness running a fast scoring offense.

Heupel was just a terrible fit at UCF and seemed to not like it here

you may not like how Frost left but when he was here he seemed to love it here and Marc Daniels comments/articles back that up
After we beat Marshall in the 2019 Gasparilla Bowl to finish 10-3, Heupel was asked his thoughts on the end of the season and he said something to the effect of, "It was a 10-3 season, that's about it."

The Heupel/Frost thing while they were here thing isn’t fair. Remember that Heupel was undefeated with KZ in 2018 before the injury… just like Frost in 2017. I think Frost would’ve endured a similar arc given the same circumstances. Obviously, Frost gets credit for resurrecting the program, however

Did he cough when he said it. Lol
oh my god omg GIF by South Park

Tennessee can buy players and buy a better DC (which they did). Heup will do just fine in Tenn. The question is will he win games that matter. TBD.

I am not sold on Heupel yet (full discolsoure, I am a Gator fan who lives in TN, so maybe this is sour grapes to an extent), but gimmicky offenses typically dont last long, and Florida isnt great right now either. This want a mid 90s UT game where they were both 2 of the top 5 teams in the country. If UT can get through UK, UGA, and Bama then we can talk, at this point I still see a UT team that almost blew a game to an average Florida team on their home field.

He won’t beat Alabama or Georgia, so in that sense, no he won’t.

Tennessee is a horrible job with regards to expectations, he has started off well so we will see, but I dont see him beating UGA or Bama either, and UK is a toss up. And this year, it is fine, but a couple more years down the road he has to beat those teams because UT fans expect SEC and national championships.

Remember the temper tantrum the boosters had when they hired Greg Schiano ? The problem at Tennessee are the boosters have way too much power, IMO.

Yes, the Schiano revolt led by Clay Travis, so they could hire Pruitt who was an awful coach. UT fans live on the legacy of the program, similar to Nebraska to be honest, they dont understand the here and now. Heupel has done well so nothing against him, but they are acting liking beating an average Florida team at home, is is their saving grace. I need to see what they do against UGA, UK, and Bama before I act like UT is back, but Heupel has done well so far so nothing against him, I just dont think that offense will last in the SEC.

Heupel has Tennessee going in the right direction, but that was not a good gator team that made it close. He was 7-5 last year and probably will have them going 10-2, 9-3, or less likely 8-4, but I seriously doubt he’s ultimately going to get them over that hump anytime soon. He’ll be given every opportunity to do so. They love him there right now.

Tennessee has some mental block when it comes to the Gators bc if there was any season to win by at least 10 at Home it was yesterday & they almost blew it.

If he beats everyone in the East but Georgia they’ll love him but beating Kentucky is no given

The gators are talented. They played pretty well. It wasn’t a fluky type performance either. their hyped up QB actually played the part and went toe to toe with Hooker for most of the game. Also didn’t make any boneheaded interceptions like he had been making. Tennessee did almost choke it away after they went up 17 and then played not to lose. Same thing Heupel did here.

In year 4 everyone will know and understand Heuple . If he brings UT 9 wins and wins a bowl or two in the next 2 -3 years UT will be happy . However, if ihe is stuck in the 7-8 games a year by year 4 , his seat gets warm. Many fan bases have no patience or reality that they can't compete for a title year in and year out and yet expect to do so. Many of the SEC fan bases expect that because they bought the hype it just means more.

As a UCF fan I don't give a crap if Heuple succeeds or fails. Not my circus not my monkeys ..he came and is gone .

I don’t know if any of you actually watched the AL game, or watched UT all season (or last season) for that matter. The Huepel offense we know doesn’t exist. He actually runs a similar offense to our 2018 team where he seemed to have a Scott Frost feel. There isn’t the run up middle, curl out, deep sideline throw, run up the middle (x3) that he ran with us at breakneck speed. They barely run up tempo at all, they have a ton of different passing routes, they use TE’s, they use various run options. They also have a way better qb, wr and OL than we had. Did I mention their defense is just as bad though? Blame Randy Shanon right? No blame his offense.

Well, I think most people agree his win over Alabama mattered.
In an age where bowl games are exhibitions littered with 2nd string players, and even playoffs will see players sit out, these games actually matter the most.

Amazing. I suggested here a month ago, why didn't he continue to run what was proven to work here rather than abandon it to force his system in 2019? I guess he finally checked his ego and did just that :)
Im thinking he may have dumbed down his offense for DG. Notice even after DG entered portal there didn’t seem to be a lot of talk to him going to Tennessee.

Never really understood why some fans dunked on Heupel because he could not maintain perfect. He did a decent job here. I like Gus better so I think it was a good trade, but Heup was ok. Our fans don't know what a bad coach at UCF looks like. We have been spoiled in that regard

Maybe the limitation on offense was at QB and OL. He did well with Milton. DG kept us in games but couldn’t put us over the top. Now he has Hooker as Heisman front runner and an OL that allowed practically no QB pressures vs a DL featuring a couple future first rounders.

Injuries hurt us a lot last year too. When a few people got healthy, we beat the Gators going away.
