College of Charleston comes to Bahamas with a win at Clemson on the road, who was projected to finish top half of loaded ACC. They finished last season with 26 wins and a trip to NIT.

College of Charleston has a balanced attack

Four of the five starters average double figures this season.

pts rebs
Antwaine Wiggins SF 19.0 6.3
Andrew Lawrence G 13.3 3.3
Trent Wiedeman PF 12.3 10.0
Jordan Scott G 10.3 0.3

What about the other starter? Yes, he is the highest ranked player in C of C history to sign with Charleston. He was once ranked in the top 20 by rival.

Freshman sensation

Adjehi Baru C min:28.3, point per game: 9.0, reb per game7.7

Here are some scoutings on him.

“Right now, Adjehi’s defense is ahead of his offense, but his offense is coming along very rapidly. He can make a 15, 16, 18-foot jump shot. It wouldn’t surprise me if he could work his way out to the three-point line by the time he came to Charleston. He has improved his ball handling and dribbling. He can catch the ball in the post, and one of the things that goes unnoticed, is what a great feel for the game he has. He is a very good passer in the post. He sees guys cutting and makes the right play. He is a good teammate and our guys are going to like being around him.” ? CofC associate head coach Mark Byington

“Many analysts use words like “motor,” “toughness” and “intensity” to describe Baru’s game. He runs extremely hard from end-to-end of the court, and once there, he participates aggressively in each play. One of the dividing lines between successful and disappointing big men is work rate, and Baru makes himself a part of the action in nearly every possession.” ? ESPN College Basketball Recruiting

“Adjehi Baru and Team Loaded surprised everyone when it won the prestigious Pitt Hoop Group Jam Fest and by defeating other nationally-ranked programs such as CP3 and Ohio Basketball Club. After watching Adjehi in many early season tournaments, it was crystal clear there was not a more agile and athletic 6-foot-9 player in the country and he became a crowd favorite with his athleticism, high intensity level and high motor. Adjehi simply played the game hard and gave 100 percent effort each and every game.” ? Phenom Hoop Report

I am not saying the interior game would be as scary as FSU. But they are really talented and most of all experienced. Two of the three frontcourt starters are seniors so they have lots of experience. Would be interesting to see Wiedeman vs Clanton match up.

Would be a huge test offensively and defensively for Keith.

Good stuff!!! Thanks!!

CoC will be a tough game...probably much more difficult than the original tourn opener that was previously planned for UCF (vs UMASS).

UCF will hopefully attack the basket...get some of CoC players in foul trouble...and like in UCF's last game...HIT those freebies for easy pts.

UMass is 4-0 too.

Great HC in Bobby Cremins. Formerly at GT, he's now in his 5th year at CoC, where they (charitably) don't have the same admissions standards as GT.
