KJ listed a potential dark house for the Heisman trophy.

"Kansas' Jalon Daniels and Kansas State's Avery Johnson are potential Heisman Trophy sleepers. Arkansas transfer KJ Jefferson landed at UCF and is yet another intriguing option. "

This is the best part....

14. BYU

Starter: Senior Gerry Bohanon (19 career starts, 12 starts at Baylor, 7 starts at UCF)

Backup: Junior Jake Retzlaff

Situation: Kedon Slovis started eight games for the Cougars last season, and Retzlaff had 648 yards, three TDs and three interceptions in four games. Retzlaff likely will slide into a backup role behind Bohanon, who led Baylor to a 12-2 record and Sugar Bowl victory in 2021. Bohanon spent the last two seasons at UCF, and he has not played in game action since suffering a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder in 2022. Bohanon did have 2,200 passing yards, 323 rushing yards and 27 total TDs at Baylor in 2021. He will get one more chance with the Cougars. Treyson Bourguet is the third option.

Also noteworthy...

13. Boston College

Starter: Thomas Castellanos (12 career starts at Boston College)

Backup: Junior Grayson James

Situation heading into the fall: Castellanos was outstanding in his first year as BC’s starter. He won the job from Emmett Morehead in Week 2 and never looked back, accounting for 28 touchdowns (15 passing, 13 rushing), which was good for third in the ACC behind King and Drake May. He is an elusive runner who was third in the ACC in rushing with 1,113 yards. It will be interesting to see what he can do in Bill O’Brien’s offense, which historically has been more pro-style. Castellanos will need to up his 57 percent completion percentage and cut down his 14 interceptions.

Sporting News has not ranked Group of Five QBs, but my guess is Mikey Keene will be in the Top 15.

But Gus cannot evaluate, recruit, and develop quarterbacks.

Too bad he has no ability to actually keep them here.

If you want star power at backup quarterback, you are going to have to pay stater money for a guy to sit. Georgia, Oregon, Texas, the u, etc., all have quality backups riding the pine because of big payouts.

Golesh and Heupel recruited him I believe. He just stayed to his commitment until was obvious Gus didn’t like him.

Doesn't explain Castellanos though.
TC threw 15 touchdowns and 14 INT at Boston College.

Gus shouldn’t have burned TCs redshirt, that’s where he messed up. Then it was going to be JRP, TM, and TC third string and TC was having that after his sacrifice. Don’t blame him for leaving.

Gus had the foresight to lose a QB with 3 years of eligibility for a 5th year QB to have his 5-5 final season as a starter.

Castellanos lead his team to 3 TDs in the 4th quarter to beat GT on the road by 15 points, Plumlee did a good job dominating GT in the first quarter.
