There is nothing, and I mean nothing that I have experienced in NY that i better than Florida. Yes I know that home is always best but no way, the people here are just not happy people.People from NY can't seem to finish a sentence without telling you how great it is, or how much better it is than where they are, how much they miss it, etc. Yet they left NY and probably actually hated it when they lived there.
I'm not talking about visiting, I'm talking about living in New York and I mean New York and Long Island. Upstate is completely different, no desire to live their either but I'm talking about spending at least a year here.If you can afford to experience great New York things then it's an amazing place to visit and experience those things. If you're judging it by Times Square then yea....it sucks.
But if you know what you are doing then here's no city like it. I could never live there but always enjoy my visits and going to new restaurants and shows and whatever else.

Spoken like someone who has no clue.LOL.
Looks like you need to break out the Jaws of Life on your wallet.
Food, live music, theater, spring, fall, public transportation, shopping, drugs, nightlife, jazz clubs, etc.apx Zero. nothing is better in NY

I can't believe you old curmudgeons are pretending New York is so aweful. I wouldn't live there either, but I understand there are amazing things to do there.

That's the thing. People who live in NYC talk about the world class food and culture when in reality they spend the vast majority of their nights eating ramen noodles in their $3k/mo studio apartment posting on facebook. But yea, you'll go broke pretty quick paying those prices for long.
If you had the ability to read you would have read this thread was about living here, not eating out for a day or so. I also said NYC and Long Island, not just the city. How so?
You're the one speaking in absolutes. Nothing you have experienced in NYC is better than Florida? Damn, you must be eating at McDonalds every night, and only going to see superhero films at the Multiplex. There are plenty of things in NYC better than Florida. There are plenty of things in Florida better than NYC.
By writing such absolute statements, you either look like a dumb old fart, or a cheap moron who can't bother to pay for the better things in NYC.
NYC near Christmas time is the absolute best. You can't replicate the energy of that city anywhere else. I could never live there but NYC is a unique experience that you simply can't find in Florida.
It's not just what NYC has, it's how much of it. You can walk for a day and find new stuff on every street that is worth seeing and doing. I once bar hopped down one single street with some locals and it was one of the best times that I've had.
much different show scene in Vegas than Broadway.and all the entertainment of Broadway shows can be found on the Vegas strip
much different show scene in Vegas than Broadway.
i dont think many people here really know the talent level and/or the types of shows that are regularly rotating on Broadway.
The main thing Vegas holds a candle to is it's restaurants. Granted in Vegas it's almost all 'famous chefs' places...but still it is a place you can find some of the best food/chefs from across the country in one place. New York you can spend a lifetime there and still always be discovering new places - both well known and not.
If anyone can name a place or two in Orlando that can even remotely compare to the Italian you can find in NYC I'd be interested to know.
This may come as a surprise to you but there is more than food in New York. Is your snobby ass getting on the subway at 1:00 AMExactly.
You could go a whole year eating/drinking at a new badass place and never duplicate. It doesn't even have to be fine dining, either. The cheap ass ethnic foods in NYC kill pretty much every other city in the world.

Thats the government and the mob for you ...Last time I was there we stopped at Gramercy Tavern which is fairly well known as one of the best spots in the city. We ate in the Tavern and it was actually reasonable; I think my dish was like $22 which is cheap for NYC.
However the cocktails started at $15 a drink.
And that's just because their drinking water system is so old and nasty the tap water adds minerals to the dough that can't be duplicated down here. After Katrina, a bread factory had to shut down because the water plant got replaced and they couldn't make the bread taste the same anymore.I did like it when I lived there, but outside of pizza and bagels it's much better in Florida
Best Indian cuisine outside of India is Gaggan in Bangkok. #1 restaurant in Asia on San Pelligrino's list.Speaking of food, I'll be in London in a few weeks. Gonna hit up Brick Lane and stuff myself full of the best Indian cuisine outside of India.
Where do you live?NYC is awesome and all you haters are a bunch of fukcing bitches.
