You owe all of us an apology. Unlike you, we knew UCF's potential - a potential GOL simply could not unlock. Scott Frost does in less than 2 months what took GOL 7 years to eclipse just once and then resulted in sanctions. What a waste that guy was.

Yes, this thread is the ultimate "I told you so".

I respect what GOL did for UCF Football.
Didn't always agree with his old school X's and O's but it brought us Conf. Championships and a huge BCS Bowl win over a team everyone thought we'd get stomped by.

Frost has started off on fire in recruiting.
Can't we just focus on that and be happy?

What a joke. Frost had a very nice recruiting class and I'm very happy about it, but I'm going to get a hardon over a top 60 recruiting class? Just a little premature here. How many games has Frost won??? I'll admit that he's great at relating to HS kids and has shown amazing recruiting potential.

Hater thing is getting old. It's 2016 now. Get with the program.

I am very happy with this class, that being said last year we had the #63 class with only 17 players. 1 4 star and 12 3 stars. the 2 classes are not dramatically different.

Me waiting on the huggers to apologize.

I give Frost a lot of credit for putting together a solid recruiting class in a short period of time. I'm not trying to knock the guy, but he hasn't won a game yet, let alone conference championships or a BCS bowl game. I hope he does. I'll be cheering for whoever the coach and players are. Whenever Frost is gone, I'll be cheering for the next coach too.
Black and Gold 4 Life

Wow you whiners hug his nuts far longer than anyone else. Try to get over yourself. How many games has Frost won here at UCF? GOL has done a lot for UCF, but apparently for you whiner huggers history is a difficult subject for you. Thankfully, GOL is gone. About time. But you are an ignorant baboon if you can't appreciate what every coach for UCF except 1 (hello famous ex-Buffalo Bills head coach) has done. What an ass. You can actually appreciate what they have done without having to worry about being a hugger. But, since many of you are simple minded usf-type brain- keep hugging onto your whiny behavior.
And please, when are you whiners going to grow up and stop begging for people to apologize to you? Haven't you ever accomplished anything in life that you have to skulk around here and beg like a baby in diapers?

PS You know, it's not actually a competition. GOL is gone, Frost is the future. Why must you whiners continually hug onto the past? You can actually be excited about the future without insulting those who actually were excited about the Fiesta Bowl etc. I couldn't be mor excited about Frost, but also loved the Fiesta Bowl. Last year, was also great- in that it got rid of the past, and brought tremendous change.

Frost still has work to do. It remains to be seen if some of these recruits actually pan out. GOL offered some 2 star recruits that were NFL talent and had 4 stars that did absolutely nothing here. He did recruit 2-star Josh Sitton (who is still going to pro bowls) in his first year as head coach and 2-star Kevin Smith in his second year which did nothing for our recruiting rankings but which paved the way for appearing in the conference championship in 2005 and winning it in 2007. If we can win the conference or play for the conference championship in 6 out of 10 years with a new years bowl victory sprinkled in during Frost's tenure I will consider it a success.

As Frost stated in his 4pm presser... because of lack of time, he relied on the original coaches to list the kids we were going after. In other words, we were already targeting these players. Yes, we were able to sway most of these kids with coach Frost and this style of play and I am happy for that. But don't harp on GOL for having to deal with sanctions the past several years that were brought on primarily by our UofF AD.

GOL is gone, get over it already. I am sorry GOL gave us a BCS bowl win, and 3 conf championships, and a few bowl wins. I am sorry he got us ranked 2x. I am sorry most of his classes were comparable to yesterdays class other than having less fla kids.
It was time for him to go, and he is gone. And without Hitt asking him to stay would have been gone 2 years earlier. If he did you would have had a new coach named Key, not Frost, riding the sanctions to the bottom rather than Oleary. Had Oleary left 2 years ago, My guess is Taffee would have left with him. and the 9 win share the AAC title year would have been something much less.

It was interesting to see on several recaps of Frost's press release and talk with the fans how much his philosophes and methods were likened to GOL. His straightforward face with the press, but easy joking manner with the fans. His distain for the recruiting hype and not sucking up to recruits and falling into that habit. To his observation that star hype means little or nothing. Despite being young, I think Frost has a bit of old school mentality which should play well with the current atmosphere of discipline and academic excellence.

Wait?! We had a top 10 class? Really?! Heck, we didn't even have a top 50 class!

Even Houston barely cracked the top 50, with a very family-linked 5-star. That's G5 reality, especially since Texas has a lot of recruits too, and is very comparable to Florida.

More TL;DR ...
I think every one of us alleged "nuthuggers" gave Frost an A+. But that A+ was based on being in a G5 conference, after a 0-12 season. It still wasn't a top 50 class. The class actually being slightly lower than our last 2 (universally so in the case of the 2013-2014 class across all rating sites). But considering all the negatives, Frost did awesome!

I said it before and I'll say it again ... as a defense-oriented, ball-control lover ... if we were going to go offense, Frost was an awesome hire! Even as all the negativity started late in the recruiting season, by many who hated GoL and originally loved Frost, I stuck by Frost and said, "we'll see." He nailed the last half-dozen and utterly brought in a solid, G5 class, even more so all consideration.

But I'm still afraid what will happen when "the honeymoon wears off," and the complaints start about Frost and kids, just like Oregon fans would do when they disagreed with play calling and results. It's still not his team, and I don't expect much out of 2016. If we do 0.500 or better, I'll be surprised. The solid O-line and good D-line pick-ups might help significantly. But I'm ready to give Frost until 2018 to get his system, with his kids, established.

Because us "nuthuggers" are still realists ... and we recognize that we're not going to get a top 10 class until we're P5. Top 25 is probably slim to none as well.

That's what us "nuthuggers" said! Because we didn't hug GoL, we advocated reality. I have a full season of popcorn, and I hope your honeymoon never ends. Because I'll be the first one "hugging" Frost when you guys start lambasting him too.

1.) but not as #ucfast
2.) they took a year to make. (This took 2 months.)
But I thought you anti-GoL's said with our location and upside, we'd be recruiting Top 10 and just cleaning up everyone?

So ... let's say Frost goes 0.500 or better next year.
Will we have a Top 10 class then?

Yes. Give him a few more months to make this happen. :pimp:

GOL is the Father of UCF Football. Not Frost , not McDowell.

McDowell you could argue had an essential part in saving the UCF Football program and was the one that started our move out of the lower levels of football.
He essentially took the pipe dream of UCF playing at the top level of football and made people within the program realize it was attainable.
None of these coaches need to be disrespected.

This. Having lived through every UCF coach, I will say that each brought something to the table and advanced the ball in a different way (Well Frost is just beginning but off to a nice start). UCF's problem was never with coaches it was usually with ADs. Until Steve Orisini got here our ADs did not guide us particularly well. The big thing they misunderstood is what many of the GOL haters still misunderstand. That is our size, location and ability to hang tough with bigger programs has never been and never will be the path for UCF to gain acceptance in to the big boy leagues. The way to acceptance has always been success within a conference first. McDowell, gave up a pretty good opportunity to move on to bigger programs to become the head coach for UCF. He was a huge boost for UCF and did amazing things to move the program out of debt and into Div-1 football. However, he (as AD) shunned the idea of joining the fledgling CUSA. Instead he felt like we should be looking to the SEC or ACC. So instead of putting down roots, establishing rivalries and getting the respect of our peers we were tilting at windmills chasing a dream that was never going to happen. We ended up with no identity, no rivals, no bowl games, little or no TV appearances. When Kruz took over we got in the MAC which was a bad conference for us, but it did get us into the CUSA later. Under Kruz we had the exciting offense but still no roots.

Not until we committed to playing in and winning in a conference and bowl games did we begin to get attention of our peers first and then national attention later. This is the step that GOL made happen. This is why he was so important to the program. He laid that foundation. It is a step that anti-GOL people think we could skip but we tried that already and floundered badly. Once that was accomplished it was time to move on to a new coach who could take the foundation and build upon it.

Why does this sh-- always have to drop into "versus"?
Every coach has his role to play and most did us proud.
It's the Frost-era now ... let's leave everything else behind.

I agree. Mc Dowell did us strong, as did GOL. Kruz was a good coach and gave us one great year, just was not enough of a disciplinarian.
GOL took a program in shambles and built it up solid, and it was solid in spite of the horrid year last year. Frost took over a well run program, has done very well so far, and hopefully with his youth and new style of football bring us to heights unseen. Time will tell the tale.
