that their is no way Texas and Oklahoma are going to allow UCF or USF into the Big 12 and upset the apple cart. Could you imagine what would happen if they let a directional school from Florida in and that school in a short time started to dominate the conference. Sorry, but I just don't see them taking that big of a risk. Therefore, I see Cinci, Memphis, Colorado State and BYU getting the invites.

I tend to agree. If it was about marketability, tv, etc UCF has all the metric in their favor. The quote from the OK BOR member spell it out clear as day. They want to be given playoff spots with greater ease. Inviting a team that would likely reduce the odds of Texas/OK to make the playoff (even if it increases the odds of the B12 getting the bid) is bad.

What else did you expect from a bunch of Midwest backwards thinking hokes? That conference is doomed because the the team that controls it already has one foot out the door. Thanks but no thanks.

Yep. We aren't going until Texas and Oklahoma leave. That's why I think we need to just rebrand ourselves at a state team instead of a small regional team. Florida Technological University Citronauts!

(from Office Space the movie) ....I'm going to have to mmmmm disagree with you.....yeeeeah..........

The future and the money is in Florida and the South. I think we're in. If you eventually want to compete with the SEC...take UCF and USF. The other colleges just don't bring the MONEY JERRY!!! :)

I think to bring in more international student interest and promote our top notch computer science program we go with: Florida University Computers Technica

I think FUCT really portrays where we are and where we're going in this power conference landscape.

It is becoming very evident that OK and UT are looking for legal reasons to bolt for the Big10 without having to wait for GOR to expire. By announcing their displeasure, they are setting the foundation for their departure.

it's better to just completely ignore expansion news

This happens every offseason by bored bloggers and it usually ends the same way. It's the thing I hate about College Football

He's coming to a conclusion as he thinks as well :)

Yeah but need something to post about :)
I'd love to see UCF on a true even playing field but it usually ends with a swift kick to the you know where where we always have to build from a financial disadvantage. The worst part of it is that there is never closure, UCF is stuck in conference purgatory

Someone has got to see the potential of a USF-UCF merger into their conference. It just makes too much sense (but dang we picked the wrong time to go 0-12) :-/ ...........sorry, beating a dead horse here.

PussyPride must have one pathetic life if all he does is sit around and read the posts in the UCF board waiting for an opening so that he can post his garbage and drivel. I guess that's what happens when a person has no life and the board for the school they support has no activity. PussyPride must be extremely jealous of us because he has to keep coming here. Otherwise why bother? I don't go to the PussysLair. Of course I would be the only person there if I did. I don't go to the USF boards. What kind of poor, pathetic, sociopath goes to other teams boards just to spout insults and garbage?

PussyPride, get out of your mom's basement and go get a life. Oh by the way, she's calling. It's time for her sponge bath. And the other guy on the Pussy board is calling. He's lonely again.

Seems like this could fit almost any G5...

_______________(insert any G5 program here) can be like TCU and improve dramatically in football with B12 membership. Spoke of ___________ (insert most G5 cities here) as a great place for fans to visit can go to the ______________(insert local arena here) for games. Large metro area plenty to do in _____________(insert Orlando, Tampa, Houston, New Orleans, Cincinnati or any other G5 large metro area school). As B12 has many small towns in which the University is located. Fed Ex is a big plus for the conference (read Fed Ex is the only real advantage Memphis has)

We already know OU is on board with us so it means more.
Calkins on his show this morning > 'Sources say Oklahoma is on board with Memphis and I believe it.' :)
He isn't a nobody either. He has contacts just like Gary Parrish

If we don't get into the B12, I say we go independent and change our name. Florida University Central Technology.

LOL....You got a radio endorsement.

More than that, they got a solid endorsement from FedEx (who offered to sponsor the Big 12 Championship if Memphis is chosen to join). Hate to say it, but that is HUGE. As someone wiser than I once said, "Money talks, bullshit walks."

For obvious reasons Disney/ABC/ESPN cannot offer the same support in terms of sponsorship without the "conflicts of interest" alarms ringing, but it would be nice to see some of the larger Orlando companies step up. Marriott Vacation Club, AAA, & Hilton Vacations would be fairly obvious as they're travel related and there would be more traffic to Orlando for these events. UPS would be nice just to stick it to FedEx a bit (know they're not based here, but have a large presence).

We, as UCF fans, can poo poo this all we want, but it's a big deal getting that kind of support in terms of dollars.

FedEx isn't the only corporate entity in Memphis stepping up. There are other that pack a punch too but I will not mention them since it hasn't been revealed yet. This is more corporate support than our Big East bid. Dr. Rudd and Tom Bowen are the president and AD this school desperately needed. They made strong allies since we moved to the American. Something RC Johnson and Shirley Raines were complete idiots in doing.

You see, it's shit like this that makes people hate message board ding dongs such as yourself. If it hasn't been revealed, you wouldn't know. If you did know, you wouldn't be here... On a UCF board. You'd be pounding your chest about your insider knowledge to your ilk. We are well versed in such behavior as we have one of these blowhards in Honors.

Just sit back, be happy about FedEx stepping up and throwing some corporate backing your way, and politely STFU.

Hasn't been revealed to outsiders ding dong. People are acting like this FedEx thing just started yesterday. It been going on for a while. Here is some expansion info that obviously UCF lacks here
(Today 08:48 AM)BePcr07 Wrote: As a Boise St fan (probably not welcome on this board much), I completely agree with their assessment with Boise St. What Boise St needs is 1 of 4 options:

1) The PAC stays together and feel desperate enough to add Mountain West schools - go to 16 with maybe Boise St, San Diego St, New Mexico, and a Nevada school
2) A PAC/B1G merger with the stronger PAC academic/athletic schools leaving which would open up room for Boise St is a western conference stronger than the Mountain West
3) The XII to get raided and join up with what is left
4) To have joined the AAC when they had the chance which may have brought along San Diego St, Air Force, and Colorado St for a western pod - we royally screwed that up which frustrates me very much (still love the team but greed is always ugly)

On the topic at hand for XII expansion schools, I would go to 12 with Cincinnati and Memphis. I would go to 14 with Houston and Connecticut. I would go to 16 with Central Florida and South Florida. I wouldn't look West.
TripleA responds
You may have just nailed it. UC and UM are the first two. And the B12 is seriously considering going to 14, with the creation of the B12N. That's what all this consultant research is about.

For a few months, Memphis admin was hearing BYU would be 13, and one of Boise/USF/UCF would be 14. But in the last couple of days, there is a rumor going around that BYU is out, (and that takes Boise out, too), and that Houston and UConn are now 13 and 14.

I don't KNOW that to be fact. I haven't had enough time to vet it yet. But the "rumor" is out there from some fairly prominent Memphis boosters.

The Big 12 going to 12 is done, IMO. Fourteen is still the question, and the consultant reports likely play a role, especially about the B12N. I can safely say for 13 and 14, assuming they go ahead (I think they will), it should come out of the pool of UH, UConn, BYU, Boise, UCF or USF. Nobody else has ever been mentioned to Memphis, afaik.

TripleA is clued into realignment info.

In as much as he basically said, "It could be any one of these 6 teams." Your sources are top notch.

Or maybe by "clued into realignment info" you meant that he reads the daily articles put forth by the many sports reporting agencies trying to read the tea leaves.

Um he said that #11 and #12 are locked up already. Cincy and Memphis. Both our schools have been working together to get in the Big 12. Gary Parrish reported that back in the fall of 2015.

TripleA said that #13 and #14 will come from that pool of six canidates. His info is correct because we have a poster who works for SBnation in the media and has heard the same thing from his people.

I thought you would take this as good news because UCF still has a chance. I prefer to have y'all compared to Houston, UConn, or BYU

memphis has sucked for SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many years in football. WOW

For years Memphis was almost going to go back down to the sunbelt level because a WIN was almost a given any time UCF played them.
