If we hire a "coordinator" level coach?

Do you prefer an Offensive Coordinator or a Defensive Coordinator for our coach candidates?

I know some prefer to only consider candidates with previous HC experience. But, if we were to hire a current Coordinator, would you prefer an Offensive specialist or a Defensive specialist?

I don't think it matters as much as people may think. We could hire an up and comer like Durkin who is a defensive guy, and he just happens to bring in an offensive coordinator that runs the kind of offense most people here would like to see.

Personally, this is what I hope for. I don't want to become a Big 12 type school that puts up 50+ points a game but gives up 40+ also. I like the idea of changing up the offense but not at the expense of the defense.

I prefer a defensive-minded coach. Call me old school, but I believe great defenses win championships. What I at least appreciated about GOL is he (when we had the right personnel) would essentially neutralized a number of high powered offenses we played. That at least kept us in a lot of games.

Ideally, I would love a defensive-minded coach that has a great OC that matches our tempo on defense. Personally, I don't want a quick strike/run and shoot offense. Our defense would be on the field way too long and these games would become a track meet.

You mean most appreciated? The man understood football. That means build in the trenches, control the ball and play defense.

I wish we would just give Key an chance to prove himself, two years max.

Double down! Four years!

Seriously though the guy shouldve never been specified offensive coordinator. Why not make him executive coordinator and have him essentially be the Head Coach with GOL of course vetoing any decisions necessary.
