If you think morale is low now…

When looking at our 2013 and 2017 championship teams as the measuring stick…

Those teams had the highest morale.
The team bond was extremely high.
I don’t recall any selfishness or perceived selfishness from any particular player.
The team chemistry appeared to be at the highest levels.

I think that type of team bond is a major part of winning and hopefully this team is moving towards it. I know NIL is a new variable that wasn’t available in the past, so attaining high level team morale/bond will probably be more difficult to attain.
Yeah you didn't bond over the adversity and the bad taste fuel you from going 0-12. Today the guys who think they can go into the portal after an 0-12 year? How is USF doing @1-11 how many are jumping ship and how many are motivated to not let it happen again?

You need a coaching staff that is able to galvanize a team. The qb situation did not help that, the turnover in defense the last few years is not helping that. Who is the team leaders?

Players that have transferred after being that years team Captain. O'Keefe, Jean-Baptiste, Gabriel.

Neither Plumlee or Keene was chosen as a captain which was argued because of the QB battle, but either way neither player stepped up and was a leader on the team.

Team has no leadership on either side of the ball for years.

I disagree. But, if no leadership gets us to the first CCG in 4 years then it can't be all bad.

I don't think morale is low. These boards invite more complaints than compliments. However we do have good reason to remain positive. In two years Gus has won at least nine or more games per season despite massive changes in personnel and still not having a roster full of his own guys.

Our roster at this point has loads more talent than we had two years ago and is still improving in the level of talent as we speak.

Next year, we will win at least two out of conference games and possibly three (Boise is also a winnable game).

Although there are no cupcakes in the Big 12, we are no cupcake either. We should win approximately 4 or 5 of our conference games.

Thus, we should win 6-8 games in our inaugural season in the Big 12. That is sufficient to build on, go to a bowl game, and continue to improve the roster and program from there.

.
I will take this bet, no way we win 6-8 games next season. The AAC is weak af and we couldn't even win it when it was handed to us on a silver platter.

The culture comes from those that stay. Thats why i like the idea of early playing time for talented freshmen. Those are the ones that develop that culture and transfer can plug into it

If you are envisioning the 2022 roster playing in 23 then you might not see next year's potential clearly. One needs a little more foresight than that. To coin a phrase from you, "no way" that roster plays for UCF in 23. Why? Because many of them are gone and up to 20 upgrades will be here or are here already even though they did not play in 22 (injured) or were just getting their feet wet. Henderson twins, Martinez, Corbitt, Malachi, MAR, Jarvis ware, etc. Plus a projected infusion of talent from the portal and recruitment.

I'm looking at projecting the future roster, you speak as if you are looking at projecting this year's roster into next year. It doesn't happen like that in college football.

On a side note, speaking of Jarvis Ware…he looked bigger than everyone else on the field (DBs) and played really good end of season. Does he have more eligibility left? He’ll be a factor next year. What about Bullard, what was his injury and is he coming back?

I think bullard tried to give it a go in the ccg but not sure he finished the game. He really was the one bright spot until he got injured. Not sure on jarvis ware but we do have a very talented freshmen class coming in and last years class was good too. I think we do land Deejay holmes and that will be a scary combo when paired with kaven call. Assuming John walker goes to UF, id be tempted to run a 3-4. Lee hubter eats double teams and turn our edge rushers loose. Harris twins can man the outside lb spots with their speed and size.

Ware has his COVID related season left that he can use. I'm assuming/hoping that he will use it. Not sure about Bullard's injury or status. It would be nice if he could return with some added bulk.

I watched the CCG with my UF buddy and he kept asking who #24 was. He looked way bigger than the WRs and the other DBs. He also was consistently bringing the wood too, but he’s only one man. Need a lot more of him.
