In Frost I trust ⛄⚔

Frost seemingly has done a good job resurrecting the team culture that was killed by Gus, but I think it’s clear that we are a year or two away from seriously competing. I think it’s pretty clear that there is significantly less talent on this team than last year. However, one thing has been shown by past events: Gus did less with more here, while Frost did more with less while he was here. Time will tell if he can replicate the magic from 8-9 years ago

I get that same feeling from the reports I've seen. :)

Yeah, I get that same feeling as well. :(

If anyone here should be anti-Frost, it's me. I became a UCF fan when he became the HC here and stuck around as a fan after he left for my alma mater.

But I think a lot of factors played into Frost's failure at Nebraska, some of his own making and others not. But I see in Scott a talented coach seeking redemption at a place he fell in love with. There were a lot of compelling reasons why Danny White hired him to become UCF's head coach in the first place. Scott's expertise and experiences before UCF and during his tenure didn't suddenly disappear when he didn't succeed at Nebraska.

I am well-aware that Frost's hiring this time around was about 1) saving money, while 2) reminding fans of the team's old mojo. But he's facing a daunting task. This is a damn tough time to be rebuilding a club given these "Show me the Money!" times.

But if the fans stick with him (and from what I've seen around here, that's NOT a given), I think he'll eventually return the Knights back to prominence. But---it's not going to happen overnight.

I expected recruiting to be difficult that first cycle bc of the time away. The transfer targets from lower level divisions is a little worrying though. It is an odd time for UCF, always felt it was a cool destination that on paper should have success on home sick transfers. NIL is the curveball.

Frost has to have the offense look functional so recruits can start believing in UCF again bc right now we are irrelevant.

That will be pretty difficult, since Andrew Harris will be playing for Arkansas in the Fall.

Try and keep up.
Dude....

YOU need to keep up.

I replied to the Tweet....

"Yes, 16 scholarship players entered the portal plus several more walk-ons, but none of those players - except CB Chasen Johnson - were expected to be significant."

I will say it again:

Andrew Harris is the first player off the bench at linebacker, pending one (or two) ACLs.

I've tried over the years to be very careful about bringing up my 'other' fan favorite team on this board because (unlike some) I know nobody here gives a rat's ass about them (which is understandable.)

But I will say this about Frost at Nebraska: His biggest, out-of-the-gate mistake was bringing his entire UCF staff with him. I understood Scott's whole "they coached an undefeated team so why shouldn't I bring them all with me?" argument. But coaching -- and winning -- at the G5 level is light years different than competing and winning in the P4, especially in the Big Ten and SEC.

Given the Big Ten's money, you routinely see very strong coaching staffs, top to bottom, throughout the Big Ten conference, even the Northwesterns and Rutgers of the league. No disrespect intended to Frost's former UCF staff but they were ill-equipped for the jump to the Big Ten. Out of loyalty, Frost put himself at a HUGE competitive disadvantage right from the start.

In fairness, I should mention that I thought back then (and still do) that he had a couple Big Ten-worthy position coaches, Sean Beckton and Mike Dawson. You should all be encouraged that those two men have returned to Orlando with him, they are high-quality coaches.

Frost is not playing in a G5 conference anymore. This assembled staff is poor as there was, obviously, not a lot of money for hires and Frost is not going to attract top coaches even if UCF had the money to hire them. This can change but right now…that’s the reality.

Lost 3/4 returning OL starters in the last portal, lost Lofton and Lee (the best DT in the 2025 portal). Lost many good developmental young players and players who would be in the two deep. Now lost their best prospect in Chasen Johnson…has added nobody of great consequence. Sincere Edwards is the best portal in for UCF.

Brandon in a nice guy and has great insider info but this is just another of his hype tweets…he always does this. It’s good for business simply put. Realistically…UCF is looking at 4 wins this year.

I guarantee UCF will not be able to find a replacement for "Lofton".

Very well stated and I agree with you completely.

I believe Frost can take this team bowling if Mohajir can string together a few successful yard sales. Maybe not ATM Sky Lanes; Three Point is a realistic possibility, though.

I think Nebraska needs to come back to B12. I think you could compete here within 2 to 4 years, make bowl games and maybe even the playoff's from time to time. In the B10 you will never be a player.

They are getting boat loads of money to be mid pack. That’s the point of sports now. No one cares if you win on field. Just in your bank accounts. I’m pretty sure they would compete right away. They beat Colorado last year and held them to lije 10 points.

Lmao. NOBODY from the Big 10 is going to the Lil 12. Schools like Cincinnati, UCF, Houston will be tiered down when tiered revenue distribution gets here in a couple of years. Get serious.

Also, this thread is going to be hilarious a year from now.

If we go .500 that's an improvement.

Interesting take - I figured taking the entire coaching staff year 1 would be fine but he would need to make changes where the staff fell short each year. If Defense struggled, fix the area that needs fixing. If it’s the schemes, then cut the DC. Same with the offense but Frost is the play caller. At the P4 level, it’s business not friendship/ family though sometimes they workout like Heupel and Libby and that didn’t last too long but that was because Libby moved up.

Frost's biggest challenge at Nebraska was, ironically, the same one he faces here: not enough good offensive linemen. In the G5, you can scheme your way around a so-so OL, especially when you're facing so-so defenses. You can't do that in the Big XII, especially without a gunslinger like Mac or Gabriel at QB. How our patchwork OL holds up will be one of the biggest keys for success.

Our?? What do you mean our? How can you be a Nebraska AND UCF fan to that extent to say our? Knights, Jaguars, Magic. I can root for another team if they're not facing one of those 3, but I'd never say our unless I was referring to one of those 3.

Perhaps everyone is not like you and that is what makes the world go round. ;)

Okie dokie. Pardon my fandom.

He gives polite, backhanded compliments about "our" AAC success.
The best fan boards are all about communities. Besides the 8-plus years I've hung out here, I've been a regular poster on a Husker fan board for decades that features a number of people who: A) didn't attend the University and B) never lived in Nebraska. In fact, 4 of my 5 favorite Husker 'posting buddies' live in New Mexico, Ohio, Missouri, and Arizona.

Since you find it so offensive, I promise you I'll never again use the "our" term to refer to your Knights and your AAC success. Hope we're good now. Peace.

I never referred to UCF as my team.

Unlike this one, the Husker fan forum I frequent shows the posters' age and location unless a poster chooses to hide it. We have some in their 20s and 30s but most of our regulars are in their 40s up to a few who are in their 80s.
