And says the US Navy does not belong there. Not quite a declaration of war, but pretty close. Stay tuned.

lol these guys have a flare for the dramatic.

I'm actually sat here in downtown Kuwait City overlooking the Gulf and there's no activity out of the ordinary. That said, it's weird that my flights the past 2 weeks had to go around Qatar airspace yet we cruised straight over Iran's coast when arriving in Dubai.

Typically, territorial sea is 12 miles from land. The inbound shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz come within 9 miles of the Iranian coast.

At the narrowest the straight is 29 miles across. That means there’s only 5 miles of “international waters” but another 12 miles that is controlled by the UAE and Oman that would always stay open despite Iran.

Iran could make things difficult for a while but if they ever attempted a full scale shut down, it would mean that they are violating not only international waters but also UAE and Oman territory

There are many shoals and islands, such that the shipping lanes are not in the center of the strait. Yes, they are 29 miles across, but the shipping lanes aren't in the middle, and even outside of the narrowest part, they are definitely closer to the Iran side than the UAE side. They are most definitely within 9 miles of the Iranian shore.
