Is Dylan Rizk our future QB?

Gus can't stand Rizk. The constant yelling at him in every game would be enough to make many players not want to play or stay. And don't tell me Gus isn't calling plays any more. His hands were all over the loss tonight. He's an angry, bitter, egotistical, and embarassed washed up old coach and that won't bode well for the future.
Perfect analysis. Gus needs to GO!

I think we can all agree Rizk played bad but he didn't have a lot of coaching and support to help him out either. Give him some easy plays to boost his confidence and don't pull him the moment he gets some momentum going.
Gus has no clue about the qb position. No legit qb would come here and we lost every legit ones to the portal We lost a Top 3 freaking Heisman nominee for heavens sake.

Unfortunatly Gus ain't goin nowhere. As for Rizik, I am not sold on him as the answer. I do think he can be a serviceable Div 1 QB. But not sure he has a high topside.

Unfortunately, Gus' body language, yelling at Rizk, waving him off show he's not a Rizk fan. He'll run him off like he did Mikey Keene.

I expect 2 transfer QBs....Gus doesn't believe in the ones he has. He's enamored with Jacurri's athleticism as am I, but he's not as good a passer as Rizk is right now.

No, his fundamentals are terrible....hopefully a new coach can better recognize and develop QB talent because the current QB room should be emptied.....although it would be interesting to see Brown as a WR.

Rizk has potential. Too early to say he is the answer. Until coach hired we really don't know the question.
Yep. Problem is we r comparing him to GMs cast of rbs playing qb and the lack of coaching from Gus. Tough analysis.
I like Trujillo and Gus didn’t have enough time to screw him up or over

Who knows, for me it was a case of Michael Greco syndrome (only long time fans will get that reference). But Greco did get a Super Bowl ring.

If he wants to stay fine, but we need to recruit the hell out of that position and have a good QB coach.
I remember Greco and I don’t see the correlation with Rizk. Greco was an insane athlete, but you really have to be smart to be an efficient QB. I honestly saw more Mackenzie in Rizk. Maybe it’s just the number, but he has grit and determination. I’m happy keeping Rizk as QB1 until proven otherwise.

Since you’ve been around the program a while, you know we could go 4 years without an effective QB. I’d put Rizk up there with Hodges at least, in terms of efficiency.

Funny thing is Greco n Rizk both went to Gibbons in Ft Lauderdale

No, the Greco syndrome is the fanbase falling in love with a guy after 1 great game.

Hodges was MILES better than Rizk, not even a conversation.

The QB job should be considered completely open and should recruit it hard from both HS and the transfer portal.

Maybe we should think of this more like January 2019, where even though we had a returner QB who won us a conference championship and got us within one score of Joe Burrow's LSU team, Heupel brought in a solid P5 transfer and the best HS QB he could get his hands on.

Copy that. Just like when Rizk went in for BYU it was a huge relief to see a qb who can actually make a pass. At least we saw flashes of accurate passing, running ability and good decision making. Rizk is young and might make a big jump from this year to next 🤞🏼

Agree….No one suggested we should not recruit QBs. I fully expect and hope the new coach brings in a transfer to compete. No way he goes in to next season with the same qb room.

I like Rizk better than any QB GOL had except Bortles.
I have NO idea where this kind of thing comes from.....he had ONE really good game, against a crap opponent. The rest of the time showed nothing other than bad fundamentals. GOL had guys that won conference titles and/or had more talent....go look up the stats

GOL played a different style of football. Our defense typically won the championships and our offense was more run focused with time of possession being the key focus. I only liked Hodges and obviously Bortles during his entire tenure here. Most years our QB play was subpar. Godfrey, Kyle Israel and Greco were serviceable, but not great QBs by any means.

Some years that was true that QB play was mixed to poor, like 2006, 2008, and 2011 where we ended up playing 3 guys or more (2015 was its own disaster). Other times, we had guys put up stats like:

2005 Moffett - 60% completions, 22 TDs, 9 Int, 2 rush TDs, 2,925 yrds
2010 Godfrey - 67% completions, 13 TDs, 8 Int, 10 rush TDs, 2,159 yrds, 566 rush yrds
2014 Holman - 57% completions, 23 Tds, 14 Int, 3 Rush TDs, 2,952 yrds, 189 rush yrds

2005 - Conference championship game
2010, 2014 - Conference Championship

Agree there, Rizk may end up being a decent to good QB long term, at least he now has 3 games under his belt. But new coach should go get what he can short term and do his own evaluation. One thing fans need to do is realize we are starting over, and give coaches and players a little breathing room. I likely will take 2 or 3 years to fix this.
We have been in the bottom 3 in B12 $$ to this point, and not really close to the old P5 schools there. I personally didn't and don't think Gus is a bad coach, I expect he will do well at FSU, but Head coach now is an administrator first and last. Coaching is a very small piece of their job. Much like Saben and other older coaches he had enough of it. Wants to be a coach again.

That is how I see him. He has talent. He needs two things: game time and more 1:1 coaching.

I hope we get a coach that that can help him. I also think that Hinshaw may have been jerked around by Gus as to who to give attention to. I heard that Friday's game was going to be a myriad of QBs playing - Brown, Colson, and Rizk. So I figured they would each get time on the field to showcase their abilities.

With the new cap, I don't think Rizk is going anywhere unless he gets cut. I believe he is a solid #2 QB if we get the Tulane coach and he brings his QB over with him. However, I believe with some work and a good OL, he could be a solid QB.

Best situation for us, although I'm pretty much Rizk adverse after seeing what transpired after Arizona.
