Is Hitt lobbying as hard for B12 expansion?!?

The statement at the end of the article really made all the teams trying to get in feel welcomed. I hope they make the same mistake as Big East football, which no longer exists because they couldn't execute expansion....
"The problem with the glut of unattractive candidates is there's a concern the league won't be able to keep the same share of television money if it expands" :sunglasses:

Honestly do you really think adding Tulane had that much to it? The Big East Basketball programs wanted nothing to do with UCF in the Big East let alone ECU and Houston and the rest. They were going to bolt regardless. It made sense for them to do it. Seriously doubt adding Tulane made a bit of difference.
Yes. The C7 and the western schools (Boise and SDSU) left. Adding Tulane before western schools showed that we weren't serious about football or basketball. At that point every addition added specific value athletically to the conference.

Man are you stretching here. Complete conjecture.

Go through the timeline. Each school brought good football or basketball most brought a huge market. Boise and SDSU would still be with us if we took care of them.

Show me one piece of evidence that adding Tulane had anything to do with it. It had to do with the fact that both those programs saw that Lousiville and Rutgers were gone, the C7 were gone and the AAC would lose their automatic BCS bid after one year and decided that being on an island in the AAC was not as good as being in a more geographically compatible conference with teams they already had history with. Adding Tulane did not change anyone's mind.

Ok, I'll give you some of that. Tulane was like the Fort Sumter of the split. There were underlying causes but Tulane was the first shot in the war.

Not completely right but there were some correct elements in your post.

The Catholic 7 didnt want to answer to a southern podunk from a school that hasnt done squat. Thats why they bolted. I dont blame them. Youre putting the legacy of Patrick Ewing, Villanova/Georgetown, Madison Square Garden tournaments into the hands of a President of a school that needs to be constantly reminded of what they should be called?

The Catholic 7 did not want to be in a conference with football schools. Period. They did not even like most of the Big East when it was whole.
