Is there a way

People can say what they want about Nebraska, but we have the most beautiful sunsets of anywhere I've ever been.
What the hell is there to do in this godforsaken place?
Wahoo, that’s a beautiful sunset.....

The same stuff there is to do pretty much anywhere other than skiing down a mountain.

Spoken like someone who's never lived anywhere good.
Right now, in this coronavirus age, no place is particularly good.

But given that we will eventually return to some semi-normal time again, I support Crazyhole on this one.

I've lived on the East Coast and also spent a lot of time working in Southern California. Over the course of my life I've visited every US state and most major cities in this country. I'm not sure what constitutes "anywhere good" but, trust me, people who live here are FAR from deprived.

I would like to go hunting out your way one of these days.

Meh, I’ve spent quite a lot of time in Lincoln. You run through the options pretty quickly. Let’s see, there’s Cruising O street. The hay market. Cruising O street. I suppose there’s the wild animal park. And the mammoth statue. Cruising O street.

Haven’t been there in almost 20 years though so my experiences are dated.

Lincoln has changed a lot in 20 years.

Any world famous museums? Hiking? Beaches? Zoos? Mountains? Nightlife?

You probably have all of that nearby but it's all generic versions compared to the level of quality you get elsewhere.

One of the highest rated zoos in the world, one of the nicest basketball arenas in the country, one of the nicest college baseball stadiums in the country, plenty of night life, whitesand beaches. Just no mountains.

When you start listing college baseball stadiums you lost the "plenty of things to do" argument.

Can't be to bad if Warren Buffet lives there. Also would love to Hunt there as well. I have my sling shot ready is that a Good caliber for the Deer there. Mule and such I am ready for. In Mexico we have also some of the best views. How about Fishing. Does Nebraska have any lakes.

We don't have a lot of what people would call "big lakes", but there are dozens over 1,000 acres. Also have the most miles of rivers of any state, so yeah there's pretty good fishing.

Haymarket Park is home to Husker baseball and the Lincoln Saltdogs, a professional baseball team. It's not the same as seeing the Cubs, the Dodgers, or the Yankees, but there's not many places that are. Still, its a fun evening of baseball.

I had a friend in SoCal who gave me a hard time once about "living in the sticks." I told him that I had access to the same restaurants, the same movie theaters, the same sports, the same fine arts, and the same recreational opportunities he had but without the smog, the traffic hassles, and without the crowds and long waits when you don't have a reservation. Hell, in that regard, a college town during the summer can't be beat!

January and February isn't the best, weather-wise, but neither is anywhere else in the northern half of the country. But that's when I get a hankering for Clearwater Beach. :)

You're talking about minor league baseball, chain restaurants and movie theaters.

I rest my case. That's the Midwest trifecta of stuff to do that doesn't even move the needle in large metro areas.

Yes, chain restaurants and a number of non-chain restaurants (Indian, Thai, French, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Vietnamese, and some good ole' homegrown Nebraska steak houses) that I'll stack up against your non-chain restaurants any day.
Is it a good place for immigrants to live? Or will I have people like Crazyhole bothering me Always knocking at my door asking for Food.

On a side note, you know a lot about Jalisco. Do you know someone from that area?
Yeah, I actually know 2 people that came from there and a 3rd who has family there but was brought over as an infant. I dont know much about the state other than what I've been told.

In all honesty, about all I know is based on my friend Jorge showing me what good tequila is and its not Jose Cuervo. Clase Azul.......like a fine wine being compared to Boones farm. That was a pretty good starting point, lol. He told me about some of the cultural stuff, like native languages being a pretty big thing there and how agrarian it really is in the rural areas, which resonates with me. Another friend came from one of the cities (can't remember the name but its pretty large) and his family left because of the gangs and police.

Probably Guadalajara, It's a beautiful city in between mountain ranges. Yeah, tequila is a Multi Billion Dollar Export. Mescal is Tequila. It just cannot be called Tequila because it must be grown only in certain areas to be called True Tequila. Also Jalisco contains the biggest Drug cartel in Mexico. Its where Mitt Romney family Has there Mormon Community.

I've had some decent Mezcal, but definitely wouldn't keep it in my liquor cabinet.

A few years ago I went to an Agave farm on Cozumel where they made tequila. Was that technically not tequila?

Correct it was Mescal. Only if it's made in Tequila and surrounding areas can it be called Tequila. Tequila is actually a place in Jalisco.

Well all I know is that there is some damn good tequila out there and it's not the stuff you get at the bar, lol. That being said, Milagro is pretty tasty. Patron is ok but way overpriced. Herradura is probably the best one I've come across that a bar actually sells.

Yes, Herradura is one of the best for the price. Patron Blanco I don't like. Its expensive and the flavor is not good. The best-aged tequila for a good price is Jose Cuervo Edition Especial. They buy old Jack Daniels Barrels and age the Tequila for a few Years. The taste is smooth with a smokey Flavor. It costs about 125 dollars a bottle but worth it. Freeze Any white tequila in the freezer if frozen just right it will come out like syrup. Pour in glass and drink. it smoothes it out. The taste is awesome.
