Will likely just be one of usf or ucf. UCF mentioned much more than usf, but could be either oneI honestly do think that USF's and UCF's fates are tied together. Either we both go, or none of us do. (paraphrasing the great Mike Ehrmantraut).

One of the ESPN guys said the Big 12 should just blow the doors off realignment and grow to 16 schools and listed a few reasons, which are somewhat valid:
I'll admit, that last one was mine but it makes sense to grow to 16. I just really doubt they will.
- become the first Super Conference, which is the future of college football
- have a back plan for when the other conferences decide to grow to 16 schools
- pick up all the top available candidates and lock them up with an exit clause
- be proactive for once, god dammit
The Big 16 would be a pretty good conference if they manage to get the creme of what's out there but the Big 12 has shown they're just like the Big East: unable to make decisions based on future prospects. That actually makes a lot of sense, since they have to figure UT and OK have one foot out the door already.
This is the mother of all unlikely scenarios.Since we're discussing unlikely scenarios... Add the top 14 candidates to a relegated, low payout sub-league for the next 2-4 years.
Replace 1 or 2 "body bag" OOC games with inter-league games. After the 2-4 year grace period, the 4 relegated teams with the most wins goes to the upper league, the 2 teams with the fewest wins in the upper league go to the lower league.
Then you start relegation/promotion every year.
This gets them all the benefits of expansion, plus lights a fire under Kansas, Iowa State, etc to start becoming competitive on the football field.
If it's a successful model, you've stolen the best pool of relegation teams before the other conferences can follow suit.
This is the mother of all unlikely scenarios.
Yep. The Big 12 is a zombie conference. The networks are going to pay $25 million for each new school. Load it up, make some money until the GOR runs out in 2024 and leave your conference mates with something so that they are less likely to sue you. That's $1.625 billion on the table over the next 7 years. The Big 16 would be a pretty good conference if they manage to get the creme of what's out there but the Big 12 has shown they're just like the Big East: unable to make decisions based on future prospects.
