Despite the penalties, I thought the entire defense stood together, played strong and kept us in the game. But special kudos to Jason Johnson and Walter Yates. These guys, transfers from small schools who didn't even get to participate in Spring camp, were stars yesterday. Also, Josh and JJB played well and Ricky and Anthony held their own in the trenches. Just needed the O to do their job to get the W.

I agree. My only complaint about the defense was rushing the flat defender every time he did not have a threat in his zone. Other than that, the game plan was solid.

Defense looks great. I think we just need more penetration on the Dline. Notice how Louisville didn't make any long throws

That loss to me was on the OL, offensive play calls and the officiating. Everyone else did the best they could from my point of view. Those two long touchdowns we had called back were some good ‘ol Mike Aresco AAC ref home cookings. Phantom calls, both of them.

Shit I forgot how bad our Special Teams was, FG kicker and punter. Both are just straight trash. Let’s hand over punting to the Australian and go recruit someone, anyone on campus to kick FGs if Boomer is hurt. Girl or boy soccer player? “Unnecessary Roughness” movie vibes…I’d just prefer really to let Boomer kick, even if he has half a leg he’s going to be better.

I think I watched 2 separate teams play on Friday. The team first half looked cohesive and generally looked like they enjoyed themselves. The team that played the second half had way too many penalties called on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we see improvement by the time we play Georgia Tech.

I will agree that the defense looks great against the run. Also the cornerback coverage is acceptable. However, our linebacker and safety pass coverage in the underneath middle is anemic. We are allowing way to many easy third down conversions across the middle right behind the linebacker level.

The refs were from the ACC (Louisville brought them).....and it showed

Why did we allow for that? Normally the referees are from a third conference. You don’t let home cooking enter the discussion.
