With the portal closing today, there are going to be many slow news days moving forward...
I have a theory about the relationship between Gus and John Rhys Plumlee. Gus, having been fired for the first time in his career at Auburn, is experiencing a mid-life coaching crisis. The 57-year-old and his wife moved away from their children and grand children and into the couples' Orlando retirement home in early 2021. The two empty-nesters never had a son, only two girls.
In comes John Rhys Plumlee, an All-American kid and the son the Malzahns never had. Daddy ball helps explain why Gus sees no wrong in JRP and blames others for not executing when plays go awry. No matter what Mikey Keene does, he can never live up to the perceived legacy of big brother JRP.
Whatcha think?
